bhallens-blog asked: Tips on keeping your makeup transfer-resistant? xx

A few things to keep in mind when keeping your makeup transfer resistant :)

  • Use a long wearing foundation
  • Skip on the setting powder or use a translucent powder
  • Use a primer
  • Try a water based foundation

A long wearing foundation like Covergirl 3 in 1 Outlast, Revlon Colorstay, Estee Lauder Double Wear, etc will all dry to more a matte/satin finish. Some foundations will stay dewy and “sticky” and never fully dry on the skin making it easier to rub off.

Setting powder is one of the main causes of makeup transfer! Powder is sitting on top of the skin not actually sticking to the skin like a liquid foundation so it’s very prone to rub off. I would apply a very thin layer of powder or skip setting powder all together unless it’s a translucent powder which goes on clear and colorless so you won’t have any transfer. ELF, NYX, Makeup Forever, Tarte and MAC all make great translucent powders.

A primer acts sort of like a glue between your skin and foundation making sure the foundation sticks to the skin. Try primers like Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, Rimmel Stay Matte Primer, Makeup Forever HD Primer, etc.

A water based foundation like MAC Face and Body or Makeup Forever Face and Body are foundations meant to be used on the body as well making them a lot more transfer resistant than normal oil based foundations.
