How to Get Flawless Yet Natural Looking Coverage

Contrary to popular belief you can get a flawless, full coverage look without heavy feeling makeup! Acne, scars, etc are only on a few areas of your face while the rest of your skin is clear and doesn’t need much coverage. The key to look flawless while still looking like you have minimal makeup on is to keep the coverage only where you actually need it and letting the rest of your skin breathe. :)

Step 1: Moisturize & Prime

  • Moisturize your face for a smooth base prior to applying makeup. Skipping moisturizer can cause your makeup to look dry and cakey. Moisturizer under foundation will help it blend and sit better on the skin.
  • Using a makeup primer over your moisturizer will create a smooth canvas by filling in pores and creating a thin layer between your skin and foundation. Using primer will also help keep your makeup on longer lasting through heat, sweat, oils, etc.

Step 2: Apply a thin layer of a light to medium coverage foundation

  • Using a full coverage foundation all over the skin will put full coverage on areas that don’t need coverage at all, why put a thick layer of makeup on parts of the face that doesnt need it?
  • Using a thin layer of a lighter coverage foundation or BB Cream will even out the skin tone but not completely cover blemishes, scars, etc. Remember not ALL of your face needs super full coverage. By applying a light coverage layer first, the only thing you need to cover next is the areas with blemishes so the rest of your face still has minimal makeup.

Step 3: Spot conceal

  • Use a small concealer brush, fluffy eyeshadow brush or just fingers and spot conceal the areas that need more coverage keeping the extra product only to the areas that need it.
  • After you spot conceal go in with a small fluffy eyeshadow brush and pat on powder over the blemishes but not the whole face yet, this will set the concealer so it will last all day as well as provide extra coverage.

Step 4: Apply a light layer of powder all over the face

  • A common mistake people make is applying too much powder. Powder is often a dead giveaway someone is wearing makeup because powder can easily look cakey. Skin is not naturally matte and powdery it often has a slight sheen. Applying a thin layer of powder will set the foundation so it lasts all day without looking cakey.
  • Translucent powder is best for a natural look because it’s translucent and goes on colorless so it looks like youre not wearing any powder yet still locks the foundation into place so it stays put. Translucent powder is also very finely milled and silky with blurring properties so it makes your skin look extra flawless!

Step 5: Setting Spray (Optional)

  • Using a light mist of a makeup setting spray will help the makeup really melt into your skin and look like a second skin. Some setting sprays like Urban Decay All Nighter also help your makeup last longer!

And there you go! Everything that needs to be concealed and covered is while still letting all the clear and happy areas of your face shine through looking completely natural! This will feel super light weight on the skin and won’t clog your pores like having thick foundation all over your face.
