We’ll see demons and angels, ghosts and werewolves… We’ll be staying with demon Dean for more than one episode — you’ll probably be seeing a different side of demon Dean than you might expect, which we’re all pretty excited about it. While Sam is on the hunt for his brother, there’s another mysterious character on the hunt that causes problems for the boys. Castiel is very much in the picture, we come back with him where we left off, his grace is fading, he’s in danger of dying if he doesn’t figure out a way of dealing with it.

According to the show’s mythology, Cain was just a man before the mark and then the mark changed him. But not into a demon. Even Crowley didn’t recognize Cain for what he was when he sensed him; he just knew it was something that felt “dark”. To me that sounds like someone darkened by hate: no sympathy or empathy, no remorse, no hope, no compassion for others.
If this keeps up (and the writers are so careful with our boys, so of course everything will be fine and no one will suffer or be sad or die…) I think we are going to see a Dean who is genuinely past all feeling. The Dean we know and love will be gone.
