If you were a sentient being in the ‘80s, then you’ll probably remember the ubiquity of heavily pleated mens’ trousers. Most guys did not look like Richard Gere from American Gigolo (1980)in fact, the large pleats tended to make some men look pregnant.

On the other hand, it was definitely a more modest, old-fashioned style, as opposed to something like hipster skinny jeans. I can’t imagine my teachers back when I was in junior high wearing skinny jeans– all of the kids would be whispering, “Did you see what Mr So-and-so is wearing? You can see his dick!

Yeah, I don’t think that would have gone over well…
