Well, I’ve decided that it’s been long enough and I finally need to do the thing I’ve been dreading–go public concerning my absence for the last two months. Honestly, it’s all good news! I’ve just been dreading having to face the music for my long hiatus.
First things first, I’ll be posting more comics on here and SOON! If this is where you care to stop reading, that’s cool…but for my fans, I’d like to offer a little more info about what I’ve been up to and take a little look into the future of Magical Game Time!
The primary reason for my absence over the last few months is that I’ve been busy! I’m currently working on storyboards for an unannounced TV show at a particularly awesome network which features wonderful cartoons (pardon the vague NDA-speak). On top of that, I’ve also been working with ANOTHER network which ALSO features particularly awesome cartoons doing character designs for several different unannounced projects. Add that to the fact that I’m getting ready for my wedding this Christmas AND that I was only home for roughly one week in September due to traveling to shows (PAX and SPX), attending other weddings and events, and I’ve just gotten completely backed up with work!
But while busyness may be the majority of the reason for my sustained absence, there was another one. Lingering deep in the shadowy recesses of my mind has been this nagging thought. It started out a small, pitiful thing but its been growing each time I look away. So that each time I look again its gotten a little bigger and more menacing. Finally, I can’t ignore it anymore and I know that I need to start a new webcomic.
I tried this recently with Escape from Burgertown but didn’t make it more than five strips before I became distracted with other projects. And while I really do think I had a pretty good idea with EfB, it just wasn’t what I wanted to be working on right now (maybe one day I’ll revisit it). It just wasn’t THE idea. So I sat down and began working on what I thought that was.
Soon that idea had grown out of control.
Next thing I knew I was not only shaping a new webcomic, heavily influenced by my love of classic video games, but I was crafting a Universe and in the process reinventing what I thought Magical Game Time is and what it means to me. There’s so much more to be said, but I’d much rather show you than tell you. Which is why I’m well underway with transitioning my site and my work into it’s next stage. Its Mega Evolution (ok, I’ve also been spending SOME time playing Pokémon X).
As to what that means, if you’re a fan of how the comics are now and aren’t a fan of change, don’t worry. I will continue making Magical Game Time comics just as they always have been. They will be posted to this tumblr and all will be right in the world.
However, if you’re a fan of my work there’s a lot more to be excited about.
I appreciate your patience over these last two months and I promise that I’ll be posting more content soon and posting at more regular intervals. The new projects and the new Magical Game Time stuff won’t be likely ready to rollout until early 2014 but I think it’ll be worth the wait.
2014 is going to be a huge year for me and Magical Game Time, and none of it would be possible if it wasn’t for my fans! So thank you in advance for your support and I’ll be seeing you soon!
