(Friday) Free for all…China Glaze Crackle Polish!

Hello all! TGIFF!! Glad I made it through this week and into wine country this weekend! Anyhoo, as I’m sure you’ve heard, the much anticipated crackle polishes have finally hit the market in 2011. I purchased the China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Cracked Concrete (what an original name..) The process for using a crackle polish:

Step 1) Apply two coats of a base color. You can get creative on a color combo here.

Step 2) Quickly apply the crackle polish. I say quickly because the polish crackles almost immediately, so you won’t have time to go over it again like you would with a regular polish.

Step 3) Wait to dry and apply a top coat.

For my little experiment I used Sinful Colors- Forget Now 321 as my basecoat color, then went over it with the Cracked Concrete color. Basically a hot pink/grey combo, which I thought would be fun :)

You can see the pics below. In hindsight, this is a fun look, but super trendy, and I feel like in 10 years I’m going to look back on this post and say to myself “ Self, what the HELL were you thinking?!” Also, as much as I love a grey and hot pink combo, I think it would be even better to do a combo say redish/blueish which from far away would look purple, but up close reveals the cool crackle finish. Since I am stuck with this grey crackle color, maybe next time I will do a silver sparkle, or just black as the base color. It was definitely an experience, but for now I think I will stick with my glitter nails!
