Manic Monday - Version 1.0

!

Weekend recap, from start to finish… go!

2 days. 24 hours. 26 acres. 50,000 fans. 67 DJ’s, producers and live acts. 20 stops. 3 cameras. 1 life altering stage dive. Well hello to you, Electric Zoo.

image

The 12-hour, two-day festival showcased an eclectic mix of some of the world’s best electronic dance music, house, trance, techno, dub-step and more. Across 26 acres with four different stages, indie music mavens, cat suit-clad ravers, Shore-like fist pumpers, true House lovers and festival first-timers grooved as one.

Sustenance Stop.

Saturday. 12:30 PM.

With around 10 hours of animalistic dancing ahead of me, getting some grub was in order. Luckily, Electric Zoo had some tasty trucks on tap. @Miss Softee offered an electric cone full of fan favorite pop-rocks, while the super cute Peter Leeuwan scooped cinnamon ice cream himself, simply to see what all the fuss was about. Don’t be a fool, food is fuel.

@Markus Schulz.
Saturday. 1:50 PM.

Sexy Schulz kicked things off with a not so surprisingly smooth set, sampling his recently released “Do You Dream?” throughout.

@Joachim Garraud.

Saturday. 2:15 PM.

French Joachim Garraud had me at Gorillaz “On Melancholy Hill.” Cue tears and screaming. I tried to leave, turned around, danced for a few more minutes, repeat.

Boris.
Saturday. 2:45 PM.

This New York born-and-bred talent delivers energetic, uplifting and tuneful tunes. There’s no synthy cuts, or hard beats. It’s happy music, so get yo’ smile on.

@Afrojack.
Saturday. 3:10 PM.

23-year-old Afrojack gave the people what the came for: a unique blend of chart topping hits like “Louder than Words,” mixed with clean upbeat rhythms and instrumental favorites like “Zeggie” and “Bounce Little Kitty.” Did I mention the religious chanting? “Afro-Jack!”

@ATB.

Saturday. 4:00 PM.

On Saturday, Andre Tanneberger, ATB, was the first headliner to woo fans with his smooth, European mix of “Ecstasy” and “Dancing on My Own.”

@ATBAndre: Good morning NY. Electric Zoo was fantastic. We had so much fun and the crowd was full of energy! Thanks so much for your great support here. 5:23 AM Sep 5th

@Dirty South.

Saturday. 5:30 PM.

Australian DJ Dirty South got the crowd a shakin’ with Fatboy Slim’s “Praise You” into Prodigy’s “Smack My Bitch Up” Remix. Word to the Wise: Don’t sit during South, or prepare to be stared at. (Hear the set here!)

@DirtySouth909: Thank you New York City!! This is what u looked like!! LOVE YOU http://plixi.com/p/43321953 9:04 PM Sep 4th

@Kaskade.

Saturday 7:10 PM.

The handsome Kaskade performed a beautiful, melodic set to a busting-at-the-seams tent. His signature balloons soared through the crowd as he played a soulful version of “Angel on My Shoulders” and Madonna’s “Like A Prayer.” I wish I had more to say, but I was too busy melting.

@Axwell.

Saturday 8:30 PM.

imageAxwell played crowd pleasers such as “Teenage Crime, "Bittersweet Symphony” by the Verve and “Flashback” by Calvin Harris. With this year’s anthem under his Swedish House Mafia belt, Axwell stole the show. But the summer music season is coming to an end and it’s time for some new tracks.
