Say Hello to LA-to-the-VO.

!

There’s a new hot shot in town. He’s super slick and plays hard to get. But don’t let his games dismay you. A little effort never hurt anybody…

Every so often a great new place comes to town (Ahhh Arena. Tada Tenjune). There’s the initial buzz, the paid-for-pr and the lines around the corner. The goal: for peeps to tweet their whereabouts into permanent social media status and stake the claim “I’ve been there.” But when you’re the super cool kids behind Tao (Marc Packer, Rich Wolf, Noah Tepperberg, Jason Strauss and nightlife lovechild Jonathan Schwartz) staying power is childs play (Marquee since 2004).

Inspired by the original LAVO Las Vegas, @LAVO New York is the new top-dog in town. With a Southern charm (no, not from the hospitable door guys) and burlesque inspired decor, it could easily double as the set of an upscale V bar. And in case you’re hungry - they serve dinner too.

Designed by ICrave, each element of the space – from the hand-carved wood doors to the vintage light fixtures – adds to the dancing den ambience. The multi-layered layout has a disco ball (According to Tepperberg, “Every great club has a disco ball.”), herringbone tiles, tufted panels and plush banquettes. There’s a sunken dance floor (translation: an actual dance floor) and a DJ booth that is visible from almost every spot in the club.

But here’s the thing - a club is only as a good as its music and at LAVO, they’re not messing around. Strauss explained: “We’re excited to present LAVO New York with an electronic dance music format with a line-up of world-class DJs. The dance music scene has really exploded in the last few years and we wanted to provide an upscale clubbing experience with superior sound and lighting for our clientele.“

Thus far, the October Lineup has been really weak (ha!) with Rony Seikly, Chuckie and Cedric Gervais. On Friday, LAVO took it up a notch with a live performance from powerhouse DJ/Producer Tiesto who rose to mainstream fame this year with his hit "I Feel it In My Bones.” The intimate LAVO provided a more personal experience than ever before, and as he started his set around 1 am, the varied crowd rose in standing ovation. There were some real surprises: like actual fans in the club and some new and unusual mashups like “Intro” by The XX (smile from ear-to-ear).

Next up: Afro-tech Anane and a Voodoo Halloween by Eric Morillo. We’ll be there catching the magic live to make sure you don’t miss a spooky second.
