The ESV Bible App is my recommended iPhone Bible app. I’ve been using it for about a week now and I already love it. Here’s why.
- Design. The design of this thing is beautiful. I use the “nighttime” mode and the text is easy on the eyes. I also use the sans serif font for a more modern feel.
- Bible Reading Plans. I’m not one to recommend Bible reading plans because I enjoy reading the Bible from cover to cover. But there is a season for Bible reading plans and the ESV app has some great options. Most useful to me are the Daily Proverbs and Daily Psalms reading plans. The ability to change the start date is crucial and this is what my previous Bible app did not provide.
- Integration. This app perfectly integrates with the ESV Global Study Bible (free in app) and ESV Study Bible (that I purchased a while back). This is what a Bible on a smartphone should look like.
Everyone should have a Bible on their phone. Use it to redeem the time. And it turns your phone into a sword when used properly. Nothing beats a physical Bible in your hand that you can underline and write in and pass on – but the Bible in your pocket is a must have app for all.
