On Instagram celebrities
A millennial (e.g. the person behind this text) living somewhere in-between the digital and the real world can easily get confused when seeing a person at Tesco’s: “Do I know him?”. No. It’s the guy I happen to follow on Instagram, with the shaved body, well-defined abs and chest, the tattoos on his arms and the suggestive, mysterious look in his eyes. The difference is, the guy at Tesco’s is shorter and generally smaller than the one I know from Instagram, he’s got fake contact lenses that don’t suit him at all, he’s very self-conscious and his body language indicates insecurity – a reason why he’s an Instagram celebrity in the first place.
