Just like the chillest dog that she "secretly" gives food to when everyone knows she does it, calling the dog rude names and insults but not being able to hide her affection, the dog sleeping beside her at night, licking her face when she jolts out of a nightmare...

Hi anon, again sorry if this took so long. This is a great headcanon! I can see Andy being very good with animals, she’s the og horse girl after all, and when she decides to get a dog she doesn’t say anything to anyone else, she just appears with it by her side. The gang just rolls with it, they love having a dog around. I can see Andy going on very long walks with the dog, also she speaks to him in very old languages, after a while the dog is probably very well trained but used to a dead language more than English. At the same time the dog knows Andy is secretly soft so he exploits that, “What did we say about sleeping on the bed?” *dog on the bed as it happens every night, barks happily* “Yeah, okay.”

I love the image of an older Andy, finally retired, but still giving orders from a small house on top of a hill, preferably with Quynh by her side. She goes out every morning with Dog, who has a name that four people on earth can really pronounce/understand, and Dog is old like her but is always happy to walk, even if they can’t run kilometres like they did before. They grew old together, side by side. Dog always recognises Andy’s voice, even in crowds. During dinners, Dog shamelessly asks for food, Andy calls him fat in every language while Nicky asks if he can give Dog food, look at his eyes, he’s so cute. “Are you sure he has already eaten?” “Yes, it’s a lie. Dog is manipulating you.” “But you just gave him food too.” “Well I can. But I know he’s lying. I am the one who feeds him.”

If we have to be very angsty, I can imagine Andy dying surrounded by her family. She is very tired, but she still smiles when Nile tries not to cry as she tells her they will look after the world for her too. It’s clear there’s no time left. Andy falls asleep, she hasn’t been able to stay awake for long for a while. In that moment, Dog arrives from outside. Dog knows something is wrong, Joe hasn’t got the heart to keep Dog from jumping on the bed beside Andy. Andy wakes up. “You here too? You want to die like me? I am way older than you, I deserve to be the first.” The Dog is not happy. Andy murmurs something in Russian and Dog pretends to be dead/sleeping immediately. Andy laughs then starts coughing. “Good job, soldier. Play dead motherfucker.” Andy knows Joe is crying. She knows Nicky pretends to be in the kitchen but it’s just outside the room, afraid to miss the chance to say a last goodbye. Andy says whispered goodbyes a few hours later, and orders everyone to go to sleep when it’s too late at night. Only Dog and Quynh remain. I hope Quynh started aging too. Dog is the first one who realises Andy passed away. He licks her face like a thousand times before and Andy doesn’t wake up. After a lifetime of battles and gunshots, Andy passes away silently, holding Quynh’s hand, with Dog by her side. Nile thinks “It was a good way to die.”. What she says instead are Andy’s words from a few hours before: “It was a good life.”
