Okay Jack didn’t know first, but you can’t tell me his subconscious didn’t. Man, all the He Knew First fics I wanted to write and read just flew out of the window and I’m still coping, but now the Oblivious!Jack fics can come with full force though

Jack thinking ‘Huh, I’m feeling kinda content rn. Hmm I’m in the café with Bitty. I didn’t know I like PSLs that much?? Bitty is a terrible influence’ and then proceeds to tell Bitty so, and Bitty argues back delightedly and they’re just sat in the corner booth, subtly leaning into each other

Jack out in Providence and takes photos still and sends them to the groupchat, but sometimes some of the photos aren’t spectacular or anything but he’s just a little bit bored, maybe a little bit lonely, and well Bitty just happens to always be one of the first few names on his snapchat and, well, no reason not to send him right?? Bitty’s nice like that. He doesn’t judge if all he gets is a 5-second photo of a leaf or a picture of the condiments shelf in the grocery shop and Jack complaining about the lack of real maple syrup

Bitty is always online on Skype so Jack calls him when he wants to check up on the Haus, see how things are going. Sometimes Bitty’s in the kitchen and then soon everyone’s congregating behind the screen or shouting to him off-screen. Sometimes (many times) Bitty’s in his room and Bitty offers to bring his laptop downstairs but Jack’s like, nah, it’s a quiet kind of night, so they talk and talk about nothing at all. Man, technology is amazing. Web cams are the shit! (After a while, whenever Jack calls when Bitty’s alone, Bitty stops asking if he wants to talk to the rest too. Jack doesn’t even notice. It’s as if he’s calling just to talk to Bitty. It turns into a habit.)

Bitty coming to Providence visit Jack with some of the boys, and Jack’s like ‘Aww geez guys, thanks’ and his teammates are all ‘YEAH YEAH YOU’VE GOT FRIENDS" “THEY’RE STILL NOT FRIENDS OUTSIDE OF HOCKEY THOUGH SO WTV MAN”. A few rare, wonderfully sweet times, Bitty comes alone because the other couldn’t make it, and Jack’s still ‘wow you didn’t have to’ but secretly inside he’s having ‘wow I’ve got such a good friend here’ mushy feelings and then on his day off, since Jack had already taken the Haus to see the sights before, the two of them go to his favourite haunts instead, or sometimes Jack’s like ‘oh and I need new shoes’ and Bitty goes shoe-shopping with him. Jack has to buy some fruits, and they end up discussing the merits of celery while Bitty’s helping him choose the chicken for dinner.

So like y'know actually, huh, I can dig this, with the Accidental Flirting and Accidentally Makes You My Best Friend. Accidental Dating. ACCIDENTAL DOMESTICITY, HELL YES I’M HERE FOR IT
