Let me introduce you to one of my school work i had to do 2 years ago. Those are graphic prints from mezzotint technique and it’s the self-cycle.
1st one is representing the fight between psychical and physical. when the mind/sould doesn’t go with the body shell and you don’t know which one you want to torn away more
2nd one are opening hands from hiding the eyes- hiding the truth to protect what you see. one eye is blind, symbolizing you being blind to big half of yourself and trying to supress that fact by simply prevent the eyes from seeing. the red symbolises the hard process of realizing and accepting while seeing others who don’t
3rd one is head bow down in defeat. the hands are the main thing here,with little red marks around the nails. this means that no matter how messed everything around and in you is, in artist’s life, what your hands creates is more important than what your mind creates. and it’s going to be a hard work but maybe someday the hands and mind will cooperate and both be at peace. and yes, it’s from personal experience. i just wanted to show you because it meant something to me.
