Whoever you are, however you are going to spend Christmas and New Year's, I really hope you are safe and content. Take care of yourself, take breaks as much as you need to and put yourself first. Your well-being is important, my love. Everything is going to be just fine. No matter how you feel, it is going to pass and you are going to heal. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you. so, yesterday, homophobic, right-wing stronghold of białystok, poland had its first pride.

last year marked many firsts for the polish LGBT community. first pride in opole, kielce, many others. this year - first pride in białystok. 

this wasn’t as peaceful as the other cities. this time, people were beaten up. police used tear gas. actual CHILDREN were gassed. far-right nationalists were calling the marching the most horrendous names you could possibly imagine. 

some participants claimed it ‘’looked like a war zone’’.

and it did. the media is silent. the government is silent. 

in addition, a government-endorsed newspaper is spreading ‘’LGBT-free zone stickers’’. sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

LGBT people have suffered physical attacks, with some reporting threats for their lives. LGBT people of białystok have to stay inside their homes in fear of going outside and being targeted.

the least that you can do is to spread this and make sure people all over the world recognise how horrendous the situation in poland is. because it’s really fucking bad.

I hope those who were attacked find strength to go on and peace in their identity. They are beyond loved. I hope those who attacked them are outed as the monsters they are and are held accountable. I hope that this country my family left only two generations ago continues to hold more pride events. That it finds strength in love and acceptance. That is the way forward.
