a second chance
Levihan week day 7: Free spot
Summary: Hange had saved his life in more than one sense.
Today was their 6th anniversary. 8 years ago he met the love of his life, marrying them after 2 years of dating. Levi was preparing a fancy dinner. He knew Hange would come back a little tired after their round in the hospital. That's why he made sure to prepare everything, from the dinner to the bubble bath.
He's grateful to have them by his side. Hange had saved his life in more than one sense.
He has been part of his uncle's gang since he was a teenager, and that day they were ambushed. Levi was shot 3 times in the chest. He doesn't know how he got to the hospital, but thanks to that he's alive and met his other half. His body felt numb, everything around him was moving, and he couldn't understand what the people around him were saying. The only thing he could watch was a couple of eyes.
"Pretty..." Levi said, looking at those brown orbs, that sparked with a golden color. After that, everything went black for him.
Levi woke up 96 hours later, on a hospital bed, completely confused about what happened. All that he can remember is that they were betrayed by the gun sellers, and then those eyes, he assumed they were an illusion made by his brain. He tried to move, but he was connected to different types of machines. As the universe wanted him to know the answer, a doctor entered the room.
"Oh, you're awake," they said, and Levi noticed that the doctor had the same eyes he saw before losing consciousness. "I'm Hange Zoë, and have been the doctor in charge of you since you came to the hospital," they introduce themselves, looking in the beds' direction. "I must say, I'm very surprised how fast you've been recovering. Not everyone you survived a perforation on the lung and a broken rib," Levi had only been intubated for the first 12. It was the first time Hange saw someone breathing on their own after having a perforation on one of their lungs.
"Where are they?" Levi asked, feeling how dry his throat was.
"Who?" Hange knew who he was asking for, but rather be sure before answering him.
"The people in the warehouse were with me," he told them, coughing.
Hange at seeing this, passed him a glass of water. "I'm sorry, you were the only one that made it out. The girl died in the ambulance, and the guy passed during the operation." They answered, feeling sad for the raven-haired. They were in charge of Levi, but since the brunette knew he would ask for them, he decided to know the patients' situation.
They have died, Isabe and Furlan have died, the closest thing he had to a brother and a sister have died. He was left alone in the world, as when he was a child. Kenny was probably dead too, if they managed to ambush him and Kenny hadn't warned him, which meant they killed his uncle first.
His stay in the hospital was shorter than everyone expected. A person with that type of wound would be recovering for months, but he's almost healed in a couple of weeks.
"I really need to study you. I've been a doctor for years and have never seen someone recover this fast," Hange said, as they watched the x-rays. Levi's body had healed both the lung and the ribs the bullet had damaged.
"Tch, stay away from me, four-eyes. I'm not your lab rat," he joked, earning a throaty laugh from Hange.
Hange had always been checking him. He knew that as a part of their job, they must be making sure he was okay, but a part of him wanted to believe that we for other reasons. In the time he had met Hange, he had discovered that not only their eyes were pretty, but they also had the most wonderful personality he had ever seen.
"I think you'll be ready to leave in a week," Hange told him, as they checked all of his exams results.
"Oh." Levi didn't want to leave, he didn't have anything outside. Hange's company wa the only thing he had left.
"That means I won't be violating the hospital policy if I ask you out," they bit their lips, looking down to hide the blush on their face.
Levi smirked, he liked the idea.
The day Levi left the hospital, Hange gave him a bouquet of flowers as goodbye. It had a card, with Hange's number on it. And as soon as he got home, he texted them. Finding a date for the date was a difficult mission, since Hange worked in the hospital almost every day. They had a busy schedule. Levi had to wait nearly a month to finally have a first date with Hange, but it was totally worth it.
Levi changed his life after getting out of the hospital, and starting a relationship with Hange was his biggest motivation. If someone like them could be with him, it meant he could change for the better. He used the money he saved to start his own tea shop, and since everyone believed that Kenny's gang was erased, he didn't need to worry about someone coming from him, but he was still prepared.
Levi served the table, remembering how Hange proposed to him, when the door opened.
"I'm home!" Hange's voice sounded all over the living room.
"How was your day?" Levi asked, receiving his spouse.
"A little bit tired, but still have energy left," they spoke in a lewd tone.
"That's good," Levi said, holding their waist and kissing their neck.
Hange's stomach growled, remembering that the brunette hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. "Dinner first, little guy. You're amazing partner with the prettiest eyes you have ever seen is hungry," Hange told him, in a dramatic tone.
"Tch. I thought you have forgotten that," Levi felt the embarrassment flowing through his body. He can't believe Hange still remembers that.
"Never," they said with a big smile.
