PMS, burnout, and caffeination

it's a strange thing to go from experiencing no PMS ever to all of a sudden being brutalized by it

it's not that i didn't believe people's experiences of it - of course i did. but good lord experiencing it in first person is beyond anything i'd imagined

sitting on the couch crying, and laughing about how i'm crying, about literally nothing, but also still definitely crying, is a god-forsaken experience

i saw an instagram video last week where a woman's PMS showed up as another character to tell her things and she's like oh my god i forgot thank you so much for telling me. and it's all shit like 'you are built like mike wazowski and nobody likes you and also you're a terrible person who is doomed for failure' and im like damn that sounds like it sucks haha

this is just like the time i saw a radio program on anxiety and thought 'damn that sounds like it sucks' when i definitely already had anxiety

i've definitely had this before and just not realized that as my body has been changing .... this is just how things are now. also shoutout to my endo who accidentally put me into menopause earlier in the year, fuck you buddy

the cost of doing business

i am an adult. as long as i can remember being an adult i've pondered the ethical cost of having children. not in the abstract, reproduction sense. the 'me, having a child' sense. and every time i weighed on it with any serious consideration, i always arrived at the same conclusion:

my existence has been a nightmare from which i cannot wake, and i could not bear the thought of cursing another being by giving it one that, genetically, statistically speaking, it is likely to be like mine

"but christina", people say, "given that you understand the nature of the beast, and your family did not and thus did not prepare you for the challenges you would face, and your investment in teaching young people to handle challenges, doesn't that make you ideal for the task?"

yeah, it does. if the task were compulsory, i'd be the most qualified for that. but it isn't, is it? it's optional. given the possibility of not facing that at all, it seems obvious then that simply being best equipped to handle it does not mean i should force someone to

and fuck, i wouldn't wish this hell on anyone

This is the internet now tho 😭💀

Omg so many additions since I last saw this post! 😂😂😂

It’s funny but incredibly telling how entitled/ignorant/insensitive some of these people are… idk if it’s an education gap or purposeful ignorance.

The really bewildering thing to me is that I remember when you needed to get up and pull a dictionary off the shelf, or visit a library to look up the facts you needed. Now people have all kinds of information literally at their fingertips and they can’t be bothered to use it.

Oh dear gods, it’s gotten worse

When you know politics but no facts

don’t take people too seriously on the internet

This hits different when combined with that “Americans don’t learn other countries exist till they’re in 5th Grade” post from the other day.

Demily recently got another one lads

Also, I love that, in the sign language one, it seems like the last image might’ve been a gif of “fuck you,” screenshot at the perfect time to let you know they were about to sign “fuck you”

As a romanian person I gotta add this one too

This is my favourite post on this website

I have literally had people tell me that I’m a gross appropriator for learning sign language while not deaf.

I sometimes cannot speak, but leaving that aside, what the FUCK lol

Listen, we have a very specific flavor of stupid here on tumblr.

Why are you Romanian

Your dogshit political opinions convinced me that your feelings on the AI MRI paper are nonsense. Nobody with a clearly functioning brain believes the tumblr nonsense you do.

i don’t understand. i didn’t present any political opinions. some dipshit said that it was reading minds and i corrected him about what it was actually doing

the research just ties together three existing things. it’s not valueless but it’s not doing anything new and it is more akin to redrawing flash cards than anything else

sorry, but i genuinely don’t understand what opinion you’re upset about. i presented only facts as to what the research actually was

Love the argument "oh but if you transition you'll have to deal with being trans your whole life" because first of all there is nothing bad about being trans and second I'm still gonna be trans even if I don't medically transition I'll just be trans and miserable instead of trans and happy

Avatar
drtanner

Every time I hear someone say something like this I remember that one exerpt from that one book in which the author considers Gomez Addams as a trans man specifically because he has the energy of a guy who wakes up every day absolutely over the moon to discover that he gets to be a man with a family and a moustache and a wife who's taller than god yet again, and it becomes painfully apparent that people who say these things don't understand transness at all.

EDIT: I found it! Here it is!

An excerpt from the essay “Powerful T4T Energy in Steve Martin’s The Jerk” by Daniel M. Lavery, from his book Something That May Shock and Discredit You.

Absolutely amazing addition I love this and personally I can't wait to be proudly trans for the rest of my life!

For Your Consideration

They eventually played me off when I started individually thanking each member of my college improv troupe. (edit: Thanking them for being great friends, not contributing to a tapestry of fear. They’re great people. We have a Monday game night.)

Featuring a guest appearance from Generic Family Member Because I’m Not Picking A Fight With Anyone In Particular.

[Image Description: Comic, 8 panels. Panel 1: Robin looking uninterested/annoyed while a Generic Family Member talks to her. “There was never any hint of this trans stuff when you were growing up.” Panel 2: Robin starts to speak up, “Yeah, because I–” but she is interrupted by a speaker from off-panel, “And the oscar goes to…” Panel 3: Someone in a tux at a podium reading from an envelope “Robin Brooks, for “An Ordinary Cisgender Boy” Panel 4: The two are suddenly seated in a fancy theater and Robin, spontaneously dressed for the red carpet, is getting up from her seat and speaking to Generic Family Member, “Excuse me. I have to take this.” Panel 5: Robin walking up on the stage, an announcer is talking “This is Robin’s first nomination, and first win.” Panel 6: Hollywood man handing the award to Robin and says “Congratulations” she accepts it and responds “Thank you” Panel 7: Robin standing at the podium and giving her speech, “None of this would have been possible without Society, for weaving a tapestry of fear over the idea of being different–” Panel 8: Generic Family Member sitting in their seat and looking pissy “–one that even a child could pick up on and learn to hide uncomfortable parts of themself–”]

*cough gay cough*

*cue vine voice* Oh my god, they were roommates…

Cary grant and Randolph Scott lived together for 11 years in their mansion entitled the bachelor pad there are press pictures of the two of them living in a completely wonderfully domestic setting

Image

When Cary grant has to marry as to stop the rumours of their gayness he became very depressed, him and his wife divorced 13 months later

Putting more pictures here because yes

Also they reason said wife divorced Cary is bc Randolph “refused to leave” their home and Cary wouldn’t kick him out.

There's three reasons, basically, besides my personal inability to get any custom character assets into Unity, Unreal, or Godot.

Wishlist Royal Affairs on Steam - out early 2023!

Return to the exclusive boarding schools of Creme de la Creme - this time as a royal! Work hard, study hard, and play hard as a royal in training at the exclusive Archambault Academy. Will you rule the roost, or be a royal disaster?

Royal Affairs is an interactive novel by Hannah Powell-Smith, set in the world of Creme de la Creme. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

As the middle child of a royal family, you've led a sheltered life in the palace, but now you must spread your wings and prepare for your royal responsibilities. Term is about to begin at Archambault Academy and it's time for your big entrance.

Everyone knows your name, everyone has an opinion on what you do, and everyone views you as the face of the new generation of royalty. You’re being courted by every club and social group on campus; and there are countless students who would love to be your friend - or more.

Meanwhile, outside your school’s ivy-covered walls, trouble simmers across the country as activists fight to open voting rights beyond the aristocracy. You can use your influence to sway the Parliament’s decision - but in which direction?

Will you flaunt your fame, or retreat from the spotlight? And if you do seek publicity, will the papers love you or despise you? Will you honor centuries of royal tradition and follow the path that your mother the Queen has laid out for you, or be a force of change, leading your country in a new direction as you break free of the expectations laid on you all your life? How will you navigate intense family ties and political upheaval to come out on top?

Oh, yes, and there’s also the foreign royal that your mother wants you to marry. Who is in your class. And who happens to hate you.

  • Play as male, female, or non-binary; gay, straight, or bisexual; monogamous or polyamorous; asexual and/or aromantic.
  • Cuddle and train your pet: a horse, dog, or bird of prey.
  • Put on a lavish play, become a sports star, or run Student Council - and bring fame or disrepute to your school.
  • Help fix your classmates' problems, or make them worse.
  • Make a savvy political marriage, fall in love with the wrong person for the right reasons, or make friendships that will last for life.
  • Help rebels work for a different future, or stamp them out with scheming and deceit.

Will you embrace responsibility or forge your own path?

viewing queer identities as “this is the label that makes me happy and feels most accurate now” rather than “this is who I am, was, and always will be” will definitely take the pressure off, friends. changing your mind is proof that you have one.

Avatar

more importantly, labels (and in fact all words) are shorthand to communicate an idea quickly. they aren't definitions, but descriptions to prevent us explaining an entire idea from scratch every time

if something's "close enough" that it feels right for you, do it. it's just a way to transmit the information about a person quickly. if it no longer describes you, or if it no longer serves you, you don't need to keep using that word

it was only ever shorthand for the infinite complex miracle of you
