I think it’s just about changing the name of the character. John can become Jane, John can become Sanjid, Gloria who used to be Peter. I don’t think you need to write a ‘female role’, I don’t think you need to write a ‘black role’, you write a human, a three-dimensional complex human and then cast whoever you want to cast. I think if people are liberated in that way in their casting choices, then maybe we’re halfway there. (credit)

Arsenal are equal parts unlucky and shit and tonight Wenger seriously fucked up.

Joel Campbell starts his first game in a while and scores in about 15 minutes, contributing more than most of our team have contributed in the last 3 weeks. He was also our most dangerous player throughout the game, but Wenger decides to take him off after an hour instead of Alexis. After that point, we offered nothing in attack.

Alexis contributed to Campbell’s goal with a decent assist, but the rest of his game was complete and utter shit - a mixture of poor first touches and misplaced passes. He’s not up to speed and he’s playing badly so he shouldn’t be starting. Wenger is too scared to drop him and too scared to substitute him at a decent time - it’s pathetic. When he does finally decide to substitute him, he brings on Theo Walcott and, to give you some idea of how Walcott played, I genuinely forgot he was on the pitch until I saw him on camera after the final whistle. Walcott is probably the player least deserving of game time at the moment given his appalling displays against Barcelona and United, so how he manages to get a run out is completely beyond me. Fucking bring on Elneny and push Ramsey forward for all I care, as long as Walcott remains off the pitch.

Speaking of Ramsey, is he capable of doing something with the ball without dribbling in a circle first? Seriously just watch him the next time he plays, he’ll receive the ball, spin around with it like he’s trying to take a dizzy penalty and then attempt to do something with it - which, at the moment, always ends up being shit.

Swansea’s goals came from basic errors that schoolboy teams would be embarrassed to commit. You always play to the whistle. Even if you think you’re entitled to a free-kick, you always play to the whistle. You never simply stop playing, which is of course what the Arsenal defence did and Swansea scored from it. The second came from giving away a stupid free-kick and not being able to defend it because of our ridiculous zonal marking technique. Whoever brought that into the club seriously needs to be sacked or shot - whichever’s quickest.

Maybe it was going to be “one of those games” and admittedly, after hitting the woodwork three times, I felt that it was never going to be. But the sad fact remains that we have one too many of “those games” and I’m frankly sick and tired of it. Oh, to top it all off, Spurs lost and Leicester drew so a game that could’ve seen us gaining a decent amount of ground ended up counting for nothing. So well done Arsenal, you might actually end up fourth like you always wanted.
