A Finnish identity-challenged person. I am a fan of One piece, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and movies 90% you haven't heard about :) O, and I think spiders are kinda cute. ^___^

obviously there's a difference between prisons and callout posts, but they have a very similar underlying logic, which is that people who have done harm must be punished and that ideally part of this punishment should be removing them from social life.

the idea behind prison abolition is that punishment is not an effective remedy to harm and that the way that we punish "criminals" in fact often perpetuates systemic violence--through disrupting people's lives and families, through making them legally vulnerable, through deliberately traumatizing them--and that you cannot achieve justice through violence, that punishment does not right wrongs.

if you truly do believe these things and you're not just parroting what other people have told you, why would you believe that this logic only applies to the criminal justice system and not the way that we live our lives and interact with other human beings? why would you think that it's okay for you to punish people you perceive as having done harm (regardless of whether they actually have) but it's not okay for the government to do so? is it because you think that your intentions are pure? because you don't think you're capable of doing violence? or are you just full of shit?

To imagine there is a uniquely different type of person who causes harm in the world and needs to be removed and isolated is the concept of criminality, which is the basis of carceralism

D&D going mainstream really messed up people's expectations cause chances are you're not gonna find a DM who has the free time, talent and resources to put on a tale that competes with Tolkien. you're gonna find your friend's roommate Phil who's read one of the manuals a few times and has to pause to get a calculator out to figure out how much damage your attack did and his story is blatantly ripping off a dragon age 2 side quest

“average DM has 20 unique character voices" factoid actualy just statistical error. average DM actually has 3 unique character voice. Spiders Lee Mulligan, who has over 10,000 unique character voices, is an outlier adn should not have been counted”

I'm gonna be honest I don't think it's fair to give Big Boss shit for believing in Santa as a grown man. He met multiple ghosts. He fought a guy who could control lightning. When the fury died he turned into a fireball with a screaming face that chased after him. At a certain point I feel like he was just making an educated guess

we've gone beyond driving a dead horse into the ground we're partaking in some kind of ritual meme sacrifice and i am all for it. mass-scale meme purge. the blood raining down on our faces and we're dancing and laughing

alternatively this is the linguistic equivalent of "your face will stay stuck that way" and we'll inadvertently find ourselves in 200 years barely registering that we've permanently shifted basic syntax like "i'm a writer" into "i do not beat the writing allegations". this could be our Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra moment
