It felt incredible. Just to take away the worry and say, "I've got you." Instacart groceries to a grieving friend of a friend across town. Pay the unexpected car repairs. Gift a young artist a yearlong subscription to Procreate.

That's why I'll never understand billionaires. If you could fix it, if money could actually make even one life better, why would you not do it? Even just for the kick? Hell, i don't care if it feeds your ego. Be Tony Stark, be Superman, idgaf. When you'll never be able to spend all that you have, even if you some up every damn day like it was your job, if you could end world hunger six times over for the price of a social media company, why wouldn't you just DO IT?

you know trip and t'pol are kinda growing on me cuz the bar is like sooooo low for sci fi tv romance its sooo often either the two most boring people u have ever seen finally kiss or guy wears down woman until she sleeps with him but the totally insane soap operatic pitch of trip and t'pols every relationship development is honestly quite entertaining and leaning fully into weird shit u can only do on star trek like their first love confession is not even from real trip its an identical clone of trip grown to be a brain transplant for real trip lying in a coma and they kiss moments before clone trip gets euthanized by his father figures like sure it may as well happen

Had a doc appt (just my yearly checkup) a couple days ago and I asked her about checking to see if my measles vaccine from when I was a kid was still good, since I’d heard it could lose effectiveness over time. She nodded and had a lab done and turned out I was NOT still immune to measles, so got my booster today.

“I have a question about a vaccine,” I say, and the look of ‘god fuckin dammnit not again’ that flashed across this poor doctor’s face, followed by abject relief when I said “I’ve heard that the measles vaccine can lose effectiveness over time and I’d like to make sure mine is still good.” says everything really. 

“Oh thank god,” she literally said. “Yes of course. That’s true, and we can do a blood test and see. If you don’t still have antibodies we can get you a booster scheduled.” 

“That question goes poorly a lot, doesn’t it,” I say. 

“You have no idea.”

Boosting this (lol, pun unintended but allowed to stand with pride) and adding: measles often needs updating in adulthood, they’ll usually throw in a rubella update with it; chickenpox might also need updating, mine did; and get your whooping cough updated, especially if you spend time around pregnant folk or small babies. (I say this from an Australian perspective.)

I was also no longer immune to measles. Had to update that one at age 33. Only found out on accident because they checked my immunity for a healthcare job I was working. If not for that, I never would have known

Also, if you had chicken pox as a kid before the vaccine came out, you’re gonna need a shingles vaccine at some point.

Hell, the time Trump had all those BLM protestors tear gassed so he could have his Bible photo op. That was just 2020!
