Doctor Who Screencaps

@doctor-who-screencaps-blog / doctor-who-screencaps-blog.tumblr.com

This blog features my screencaps of Doctor Who. Most of them are from the new series, a few Classic Who in there as well. If you have requests, I can screencap any part of any episode from the new series. Ask away!

You what I recently realized?  This scene is 100000% more heartbreaking when you realize WHY the Doctor is so upset.  It’s not that he has to sacrifice a regeneration for Wilf, it’s that it’s his LAST ONE.  At this point in time, 10 knows he is about to use up his last regeneration.  WE don’t know it until after the events of “The Name of the Doctor”, but here in this point he is aware of the War Doctor and he KNOWS he’ll never be able to regenerate again.  The most heart wrenching part?  KNOWING he can’t ever regenerate again after this he STILL sacrifices his body for Wilf.  “Live too long...”

So, across the first five episodes I’ve noticed some pretty blatant similarities to earlier episodes of Dr. Who. Here’s a Series 8 comparison re-cap:

Episode One: Deep Breath

Similar to: The Girl in the Fireplace

  • The Doctor encounters a broken down 51st century spaceship
  • Said spaceship...

Let's keep this rolling:

Episode Six:  The Caretaker

Similar to:  School Reunion

  • The Doctor and his companion begin working in a school while he investigates an alien threat
  • The Doctor insults his companion's boyfriend, who wants to be taken seriously
  • The Doctor stops the alien threat and begins to accept the boyfriend as more than "the tin dog".

Episode Seven:  Kill The Moon

Similar to:  The Beast Below

  • The Doctor and his companions encounter a rare, one-of-a-kind space creature who controls the future of humanity
  • Said creature is protected by terrifying monsters (the germs or the Smilers)
  • The humans put the Doctor in the situation where he must decide whether or not to kill said creature to keep humanity safe
  • The Doctor finally defers to his companions to make the decision, and ultimately they decide to let the creature live
  • Said creature turns out to be harmless and ultimately helps the humans out.
