I think it's so wild that Swifties think they can sit here talking about Taylor's life and decisions 24/7 and she can have no say in it? She isn't allowed to have thoughts and opinions about us talking about her all the time? She isn't allowed to make art about how that makes her feel? We deserve to be called out by her, it's completely fair and valid. To think otherwise is naive. And I personally find it refreshing that she isn't acting like having rabid fans is all roses and sunshine all the time, for once.

When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music.  Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it. Post Malone blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I’m so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration. I’m still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth, Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets). I still can’t believe I get to work with the unfathomably brilliant Rodrigo Prieto on cinematography and my team of dream collaborators: Ethan Tobman (production design), Chancler Haynes (editor), Anthony Dimino (1st AD), Jil Hardin (producer) and Dom Thomas (executive producer). Parliament aced the VFX as always. Joseph Cassell, Lorrie Turk and Jemma Muradian made these tortured looks come to life. The entire crew made this a dream to shoot. Thank you to everyone involved and everyone who has watched it!! https://taylor.lnk.to/FortnightMV

also i think i was pretty on the money when i said TTPD wasn’t going to be an album of burn books but rather a story about what this man did (ultimately, two men) and how it made her feel. because at the end of the day this really is a story about her. they’re just characters.

im sure lots of people will listen to TTPD and discount it because she talks about matty in it (and ofc people have their valid issues with him, but im not gonna go into that), but the whole lead up to the album has been “we’re investigating,” and imo a lot of us took that as her saying “we’re investigating why her relationship ended” whereas the album is actually about “we’re investigating this caricature of a girl who went through something life-changing, and she has apparently gone crazy” and she’s basically done a public autopsy of herself; something that the media/fans/public have done since the beginning, but this time around she was like “i’ll do it to myself.”

hence, the album aesthetic feels so sterile too imo. she’s trying to distance herself from the subject but!!!!!! she is the subject. and in conclusion, i think what she’s really putting down is “the summary of the investigation of this girl is that she went insane because of what happened to her, but it’s hopefully gonna be okay”

sidenote: i think what we need to take away from the album is to… let her live…

taylor is at the peak of her career and she could've just been lazy and released an album that's short, easy to digest, radio-friendly.. but instead she chose to release a 2 hour album with songs that are often confusing at first, telling a million stories from different perspectives, no uniform genre or sound, probably her rawest album ever..... her dedication to her art is unmatched

i felt more when we played pretend than with all the kens (i used to switch out these kens, i’d just ghost) how dare you think it’s romantic, leaving me save and stranded? (please leave me stranded, it’s so romantic) i stopped cpr, after all, it’s no use (i can’t find a pulse, my heart won’t start anymore) i died on the altar waiting for the proof (i’d marry you with paper rings. he better lock it down. the only kinda girl they see is a one-night or a wife) you sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days (don’t want no other shade of blue but you) two graves, one gun, you’ll find someone (my only one, my smoking gun) growing up precocious sometimes means not growing up at all (i never grew up, it’s getting so old) my friends tried but i wouldn’t hear it, watched me daily, disappearing for just one glimpse of his smile (tell your friends you’re out for a run, you’ll be flushed when you return) i leap from the gallows and i levitate down your street, crash the party like a record scratch (i’m a monster on the hill; too big too hang out, slowly lurching towards your favorite city) the jokes that he told across the bar were revolting and far too loud (you’ll save all your dirtiest jokes for me) i can’t get out of bed because something counterfeit is dead (it must be counterfeit, i think there’s been a glitch) i would’ve died for your sins, instead i just died inside (i gave it my all, he gave me nothing at all) six weeks of breathing clean air, i still miss the smoke (ten months sober, i must admit, just because you’re clean don’t mean you don’t miss it)
