(not trying to disagree with you here, I just wanted to mention one last thing) Kate is selfish at times, true, but mostly throughout her flashbacks. Once she gets to the islands (and especially during the later seasons) think about how selfless she is. Raising Claire's baby, going back to the island, etc. I think her complexity throughout the earlier seasons as well as the way she developed really made her an interesting character. And it's worth saying -- some of Kate's decisions and actions are definitely not admirable. No one should aim to be Kate. But I think her character is so damn interesting and I found the way it was presented sooo entertaining. That is of course my opinion and of course people are gonna disagree with it. But it's when they hate on her for misogynist reasons that I get upset.

I never said everyone that hates Kate is a misogynist. I said that people that hate her for the love triangle were. 

She didn't do it only for herself. She did it for herself, and her mother. Which is selfish, okay. But if you only dislike her for that one small detail out of a broad, developed storyline involving Kate, then I have to say I'm not too impressed. 

Kate is AMAZING. I have several favorites from this show, but she’s always been my number one. I feel like it’s easy to get annoyed at her because of the whole love triangle, but think about it: Kate has a history. Kate had to use different identities for probably 5 years of her life. That’s obviously a big reason why she has trust/commitment issues. Kate watched her mother be abused for years; it’s no wonder why she distrusts love and relationships. She married someone and had to abandon him because she was so wary. And then she crashed on the island. This is a new and fucking terrifying situation for her, because now, Kate — a girl used to running and living in the shadows — has no where to go, and must rely on more than herself to survive. Her surroundings are obviously going to influence how she acts around people, especially those she admires. Do you think Kate really wanted to hurt Jack or Sawyer? Of course not. But she’s such a troubled girl with no real knowledge of how not to.

Maybe I’m biased because Kate is my favorite (therefore I’m sorta like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ when it comes to Jack and Sawyer’s feelings tbh) but a lot of the reason behind Kate Hate (lol) comes from what I believe is internalized misogyny. Kate doesn’t treat two boys that pine over her in a perfectly acceptable way? Wow, what a bitch.

When I see shit like that I get very angry, because Kate is not her love interests. Kate is a complex, troubled, passionate, and interesting woman and she doesn’t deserve to be reduced to a “bitch that doesn’t treat her men right.”
