well i’ve discussed this before with @hunter-baldwin after seeing their post about OoE’s ending so i might as well write about it here:

tbh the timeline and certain events would’ve made a lot more sense if CoTM was canon(and maybe taking place not too long before OoE), thus also helping to connect OoE to the timeline better.

i’ve always liked to imagine Shanoa, Albus, Nathan, and Hugh know each other, perhaps even good friends who share the same dream of bringing peace to Romania. in this case it could also be that Nathan and Hugh’s fight against Dracula along with Morris could’ve inspired Barlowe and Albus’ research regarding sealing Dracula away. i’d like to think that after the events of OoE, Shanoa, Nathan, and Hugh work together to continue the research(to honor Albus and not let his death be in vain) with the knowledge they’ve all gathered from their adventures to the castle and hopefully seal Dracula away once and for all.

i’m not sure Shanoa would’ve erased all trace of that, she probably wouldn’t have wanted to concidering how her experience of going through her mission in almost complete metaphorical darkness was painful. if anything, i’m sure that just like all the people who have fought Dracula before her, she would’ve wanted the next generations of vampire hunters to read of her experience and learn from the order’s mistakes. so it probably just naturally disappear due to the ravages of time and Shanoa returning to the Castle again once it resurrects and sacrificing herself using Dominus before the research was complete(because blah blah heroic sacrifice blah blah Amber loves angst so much).

....buuuuut, perhaps there was one person who could’ve gathered this knowledge and keep it for long enough to tweak it and pass it later on to Julius(who was the next person in the timeline to seal Dracula away for what seemed for good back then), and that person is Alucard. as i said, i’m sure Shanoa would return to the castle again the moment it resurrects, so maybe after a very awkward encounter and interrogation Alucard has decided to join the trio’s research because hey they’re all here for the same cause and peraps mastering it could actually work this time without any more people having to sacrifice their lives for momentary peace.
