What's My Soul to Keep about?
This one has been a struggle partly because it's going to be long as shit, and partly because I have to actually do research and I'm. Lazy.
This is the sequel to "Now I Lay Me" and picks up where that fic left off. It follows Dream as he struggles to heal and recover, and his relationships with those around now that he's awake. I've really been enjoying the familiar parts of it, so here's a short snippet that I'm very fond of:
“…Brother,” Dream does not look at him, voice nervous and hesitant, “will I be okay?” The part of him that is Destiny of the Endless wants to explain that destiny is more than fate. Destiny is a decision. Dream has changed his destiny so many times, simply because he decided to, and whether or not he will be okay now is just another choice that he can make and it is not one that Destiny can make for him. The part of him that is Dream’s big brother reaches out to hold his hand. “Yes,” he says, “You will be okay.”
