Sometimes, I like reaching to the end of myself where I realize that nothing in this world is permanent, all worthless. It makes me realize that after all, I am a citizen of heaven. I am but a child of God up there. Whenever I am struggling so hard in getting the success that I want to the point that I feel burnout, it is so good to think that all of it is just here on earth. Whenever I want something so hard thay I get frustrated, it is relieving to think that it's perishable! May we always remember that we are citizens of heaven and that everything here is not permanent. Seek and ask God the things that are worth doing.

You can do the thing. It starts with another thing.

You can really do the thing. You can really achieve the dream and pursue your goal and find recovery.

But it has to start with one thing. It has to start with letting go of a lot of other things.

Maybe that means your current group of people. Or one person. Or some late night habits. Or the thing you keep throwing money at. Or an ideal version of yourself that’s just impossible.

None of that is easy, I know. I have this habit of starting new stuff and then I quit halfway through. It’s because I look sideways, seeing what everyone else is doing. It’s discouraging. “I could never be that good,” the little voice says. Everyone else seems better. More witty or charming or articulate. I’m missing “it,” you know, the elusive charm they were born with. So I stop doing all the things. “They’re already giving the world what I can barely do myself,” is the voice that keeps me down.

I have to let go of comparison.

I have to let go of some romanticized self.

I have to let go of the fear that I won’t be well received, the fear of silent response, the fear of crickets and tumbleweed.

You can do the thing. It starts with letting go of fears, habits, harmful people, bad advice, even beliefs we once held dear.

You can really, really do the thing. The stuff that hinders can be shed.

Are you there, too? Is there anything you need to let go of? Anything you did let go of which changed it all for you?

Fighting the Good Fight

I still remember when we watched PBA live in manila. ROS vs TNT 'yun. 1st to 3rd quarter, walang gana kasi parang talo na ROS ko. Tapos sa 4th Qtr, they hustled so much that they were able to make a come back. Nag double OT yon, pero in the end, talo pa rin ROS. Huhu. Pero alam mo 'yun, kahit talo, umuwi akong satisfied kasi sobrang ganda ng laban. I am able to say that it was worth it.

Parang ganun pala sa paglaban sa buhay. Masasabi mong good game kapag sobrang higpit ng laban.

Pero wait, paano ba humigpit ang laban?

'Yun ay kapag humahustle ka, lumalaban ka. Hindi ka nagpapaapi sa kalaban. Hindi mo hahayang maagaw sayo ang bola. At kung sakaling maagaw man, though it's part of it, you got to rebound. Sabi nga ni ate Faythe Santiago, GOD IS NOT AFTER THE MISSED SHOTS. HE IS AFTER YOUR COME BACK, YOUR REBOUND.

You don't let devils laugh at you because you think you are helpless when the truth is you are not. You are more than a conqueror! Hustle, rest and trust. Know that you are on God's side.

My friend, give the devil a hard fight.

YOU ARE FIGHTING A WINNING BATTLE.

I’m sorry this is so harsh, but if no one ever disagrees with you or calls you out on foolishness, you have no real friends and you’re probably not one either. If you get offended any time someone pushes back on something you say or do, then you’re using how you “feel” as emotional blackmail to protect your precious ego. I don’t mean that every criticism is right, but none of us are right all the time either. Shutting out dissension is the way to stagnancy and immaturity. This is the downward spiral into isolation and an out-of-touch echo chamber. If you surround yourself with yes-men, your life will be comfortable and complacent, but you’ll never grow or see or move. And most of all, I’m preaching this to myself first. For any amount of hurt you’ve caused, I’m that same person to someone else, so I’m checking me before you. I’m ripping my claws off my ego.
