It’s a very passionate kind of character to be involved with. I’ve enjoyed playing characters that are on the wrong side of the law, and enjoyed playing characters that are on the right side of the law — you just have to hopefully have something you connect with. This is a very unique character, and I just happen to relate to a lot of his struggles and a lot of his desires. I’m having a great time playing Luke Cage. Hopefully it’ll last a little longer.

Something Good (Will Come from That) 100 years of moving pictures about Holmes and Watson.
Download and complete list of sources at AO3.
Commentary: Dreamwidth / Livejournal

For @gardnerhill, made with the extensive assistance of @language-escapes.

Title: Something Good (Will Come from That) Vidder: sanguinity Length: 3:16 Rating: Unrated, SFW Characters/Relationships: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, James Moriarty, Irene Adler, Mycroft Holmes (Gen, slight hints of Johnlock) Summary: 100 years of moving pictures about Holmes and Watson.

======

Rec: This is a true labor of love and dedication to the Sherlock Holmes fandom. It includes clips from 56 different adaptations, all seamlessly tied together to fit the lyrics of a very charming and quaint song. This is a wonderfully affectionate commentary on the lack of boundaries, be they temporal, cultural, racial, or gender-based, to enjoying these iconic characters and classic stories. And simply a jolly good bit of entertainment.

0:25 what is called this femlock and where can i watch it?

It’s called Herlock! There’s a section about gender and race in my commentary, but I didn’t list out the various adaptations that play with gender. So here, have a complete list of all the female Holmeses and female Watsons in the vid, time-stamped by first appearance, with links to video…

Female Holmes, female Watson:

Female Holmes, male Watson:

Male Holmes, female Watson:

There are at least a few more adaptations with female Holmeses or Watsons, but I don’t have a master list anywhere, sorry.

If there are any gender-fluid or nonbinary screen Holmeses or Watsons, I don’t know about them, but S-her-lock (listed among the f/f adaptations, above) has an explicitly trans Watson, played by a trans actress, Lisa Bunker.

For those who are interested, there’s also a glimpse of a female Lestrade:

Off the top of my head, there are at least two more female Lestrades on screen: S-her-lock (listed above) and Sherlock Holmes in the 23rd Century, which also boasts a female Mycroft. (Note: 23rd Century is a completely different show than 22nd Century. And yes, just to make it more confusing, 23rd Century was mislabeled on Hulu as 21st Century, which as far as I know isn’t a thing that exists.)

1x04 The Adventure of the Dreamlover

Mary Sutherland, an online friend of Dr. Watson from The X-Files Message Board, comes to 221B Baker Street after the disappearance of her boyfriend. Dr. Watson and Holmes sense there’s more to the story.  Based on “Case of Identity” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  Warning: Adult themes, adult language, emotional abuse (gaslighting).

As a huge thank you to @221bcon, we’re going to make this episode available for the next week, for those who might’ve been at the Con but were unable to get to the screening.  It will be permanently up in June 2016, along with the other three.   (Please keep in mind this is actually the LAST episode, so there’s one scene that references a pervious episode.)

Daily Update

Back to the Abode Cave (nanana).

Just sat down to do a “quick” edit on Devil’s Dance for pacing, since that was the universal constructive criticism I heard about the episode.  Turns out that “quick” edit is going to take waaaaaaaay longer.

We color corrected in episode in DaVinci; therefore, ONLY the frames seen in the timeline are available.  I can’t just drag the clip and poof, it’s finished.  It means I’m going to have to go dig.  It’s an easy fix.  It’s just not easy as pie.

So, that’s my day!

221BCon, A Post Script

@221bcon is over.

It is such a surreal feeling, a mixture of sadness and relief.  We have been working toward this moment for months; consumed with no other thoughts but finishing on time and producing the strongest product possible.  I’m so sad that the Con is over, and it might be another year before we meet all these amazing people again, but, I feel like I can breathe now.

I want to thank everyone who came to the showings.  I want to thank everyone who came to the booth, who bought a t-shirt or picked up a business card.  I especially want to thank @girlmeetssherlock, @pursuitofnerdiness, @theandiepants, and  @sherlollymouse for being rocks, for making me feel welcome and keeping me calm through whole crazy weekend.

I want to thank @lostandhufflepuff for literally saving our showing by bringing her computer.  The true #VIP for the weekend.

I want to thank Heather and Crystal for being amazing, flat out amazing, putting out crises, accommodating and addressing our needs, and being so generous with their time and energy.  They put on an amazing Con and I hope to come back for years to come.

I want to thank everyone for the excellent feedback and constructive criticism we received.  I am taking EVERYTHING into consideration and the SECOND I get back to Maine, I’m going to try to address everyone of those issues.  They are so valuable.

Going forward, we plan to release content in the next couple weeks.  We need help building websites and I need to re-edit a few scenes in the episodes.  We have two episodes ready to go, one episode that needs some work, and one that I have yet to start editing.  Our ultimate deadline is June 24, 2016, because that is my birthday, and that would be an excellent birthday present ;)  I suspect, depending on folks schedules, it will be closer to the end of May for the whole series.

So,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sincerely,

Kate & Eric
