BASIC INFO: The Augurey, also known as the Irish Phoenix, is a bird with greenish black feathers and a sharp beak. Its diet consists of insects, fairies  and flies. It is native to Great Britain and Ireland, but is also found in Northern Europe. It was long believed that the mournful cry of the Augurey foretold death. However, research determined that the Augurey merely sings when it is about to rain.

ALSO: Augurey feathers repel ink, making them useless as quill feathers. The oversized Augurey Hans is the mascot for the Liechtensten National Quidditch team. The term augury most commonly refers to a method of divinationby studying the flight patterns of birds.

*FUN FACT: Uric the Oddball once owned fifty pet Augureys. On the particular rainy day, they all cried at once leading their owner to belive that he had died and became a ghost.
