BACK THEN CARS CAME ACROSS THE COUNTRY A WHOLE DIFFERENT WAY. Well, the road didn’t cut through land like that Interstate. It moved with the land, you know? It rose, it fell, it curved. Cars didn’t drive on it to make a great time. They drove on it to have a great time. ( Well, what happened? ) The town got bypassed just to save ten minutes of driving.

in honor of this i’m in the process of moving blogs i’m laughing a lot
“Yes really. You need to be able to defend yourself.” Paige stepped away from Sally for a moment before grabbing a hold of the towel he wiped it aginst her brow before turning back towards Sally. “We can start with the basics. Have you ever hit anyone before?”
“I have not.” Sally responded, a tad sheepishly. “I’m...not exactly a violent person. I’ve kicked a few people. But I’ve never punched someone. Or held a gun. Any of that.”
“I sure do,” Johnny retorted. He laughed lightly to himself, days with Sally are always fun. His fingers found its home trailing over his arms, subconsciously picking at a new bump on his skin – where’d that come from?
“For real though, how many people actually notice it on a daily basis?”
“Oh -- I don’t wear things to LET people notice it typically. I always kinda make sure my shirts are long enough, or that my blouses are tucked in. I wear a lot of tankinis instead of bikinis...” She shrugged as she admitted all of that.
“You’d think I’d get rid of it already since I do all of that, but --” She sighed. “It’s a nice reminder not to be so impulsive.”
“ Men. ”
She SCOFFS and shakes her head. Honestly, some of their behavior Amelia would NEVER understand. Like their compulsive need to settle disagreements with their FISTS for one. “ Oh the hell if i know. I can’t keep up with any of their drama. There is always someone that is pissed about something or at someone I swear… ”
Amelia is not used to such company, she’s a loner by nature. Not that she didn’t enjoy having friends or loved ones, but they were not required for her to function. And she was often too busy to properly maintain such things anyways. She had adapted, learned to enjoy being ALONE and to not rely on others for security or companionship. At the end of the day, the only person that you could always count on 100% of the time was YOURSELF. “ A vast improvement already. I really don’t want to impose, though Sally… ”
“ We could order pizza? ”
“Let’s not put people in a box.” Sally joked, laughing a little, though honestly, she had been guilty of pulling the ‘men’ card before. “But if the house is always fighting like you say...” Her expressions became more somber as she thought about it. “...I guess I just thought they were more functional. But what can you do?”
She gave a playful roll of the eyes at Amelia. “You’re not imposing. I offered. You wouldn’t be imposing ANYWAY, but especially not after I offered.” Honestly? When people said things like that, it kinda stung. Because Sally didn’t know if they were trying to be polite, or if they didn’t actually want to take the offer. And Sally just wanted you to tell it like it was. She couldn’t stand when others beat around the bush, but she still dealt with it with a smile, anyway.
“Yes. Good idea. What do you want on it?”
He felt bad, maybe for a second. The way she looked at him when he showed her the article, the way she went quiet. There was no doubt in his mind that she believed him now, even though nearly everything he had said was a lie. But sometimes lies had to happen, he just had to know why someone else had his face. “I… I…” He stammered for a while, mostly in disbelief. He couldn’t let her know what was actually happening, there was no way she would believe that he had no clue that this stranger had existed until few days before. People didn’t just discover their long lost twins, life wasn’t a TV special. He just followed her silently, there was nothing more he could say.
Honestly he was surprised to see how quickly and confidently Sally worked on the person at the morgue, it was actually admirable. As they were directed down to the room with the body, Kai felt his heart starting to pound hard against his chest. He had never seen a body before, he’d never had the need, and the thought of basically seeing himself laying there lifeless was terrifying. The realisation of his own mortality was sinking in.
All too soon they were there, and the mortician pulled the body out of the chiller. A quiet “Holy shit.” fell from him as he saw the lifeless form. “I just need a few moments alone.” He said, trying his best to sound choked up, trying to keep from seeming shocked. The mortician obliged and as he left Kairan got closer. “How the hell…” He trailed off, leaning down to look at the dull face, “This is the weirdest fucking thing.” His hands were shaking as he inspected it. He was honestly just in absolute shock. This couldn’t be possible, but he had the proof it was laid in front of him. He looked up at Sally, sucking in a breath, “You aren’t going to believe me about this but… I don’t have a twin, that I know of anyway.”
WHEN HE EXPRESSED A NEED TO BE ALONE, Sally almost left with the person that had brought them in. But then she could hear him speak, and she stopped in her tracks as the lady walked out. “What’s the weirdest thing?” She asked, taking a step closer. He seemed dumbfounded, but she didn’t know why. He was a TWIN, right? Why was this --
“--What the hell are you talking about?” Sally’s demeanor pulled an 180, her face tensing, her voice vehement. She didn’t know his name and now, she didn’t know why he was here. She thought he lost a family member. She saw the picture and was convinced it was his TWIN. And now she could feel walls of trust around her shatter -- walls he had built up only MINUTES ago.
“I want an explanation.” She said. “No -- actually, I want the goddamn truth.” She took a look at the dead body, nor believing she allowed herself to get wrapped up in this. SHE WAS SUCH AN IDIOT and she felt an extreme anger against herself, as well towards this mystery man.
“I want it now.”
