Chapter 1
It had been a long day for the Yagi family. Yagi Inko was darling wife of the number one hero, All Might. She disgusted herself when she was out as All Might’s wife, so they could keep their family life secret, and that involved their 4 year old son, Izuku. A natural fan of heroes, cheering them on, making sure his dad was okay when he got in from work, and checking over his grandpa, the hero Gran Torino, and his uncle, the pro hero Nighteye. Nighteye and Torino were happy to start teaching Izuku about working in heroics earlier. Of course, Yagi Toshinori, Aka All Might, would allow it, but kept an eye on what they were teaching Izuku, he was just worried about his son. Eventually, it would cause Nighteye to frown when Toshinori called his son away, when Torino tried to teach him the best places to attack a villain, the weak spots.
“The kid is going to need to learnt his either way.” Torino muttered.
“He won’t allow it…” Nighteye frowned.
“Why not?” Torino looked at him.
“We’ll find out soon.” He sighed.
It was barely a week later when Torino understood. He got to the Yagi house to find it quite, Nighteye frowned.
“I am going to check on Izuku.” Nighteye immediately headed upstairs, as Torino went into the kitchen Toshi and Inko were sitting there, almost as if someone had died.
“What’s going on with you too?” He asked
“Izuku’s quirkless…” Inko sniffed.
“well, he is a potential candidate for O…” Torino said.
“No…” Toshinori shook his head. “No. We need to keep him safe, he is not going to be a hero.” Torino froze, and shook his head.
“You are willing to break his dreams over this?” He asked
“It’s to keep him safe…” Toshi began.
“That doesn’t make it right. You will push him too far Toshinori… and he will want nothing to do with you… and if that happens… it will be your fault…” Torino actually turned and headed upstairs too, needing to check on the boy. Izuku was knelling on his bed, next to where Nighteye sat, it was clear the man had just used his quirk, Izuku looked scared.
“You will be a hero Izuku.” Nighteye said finally. “There are two ways this can go. But both led to you being a hero.” He smiled. “And you know I have never been wrong.” Izuku let silent tears roll down his cheeks, he looked towards his grandpa.
“Grandpa…can I be a hero?” he sniffed, Torino ruffled his curls. Angry, that Toshi and Inko had simply pushed their own son to try and seek out people who believed him in.
“Of course kiddo. I believe you can do it.” Torino said, Izuku got up to hug him. Torino hugged him back. This kid just wanted to save everyone with a smile, just like Toshi wanted… Torino wasn’t planning on letting Izuku forget his dream because his parents were too blind to the potential. “And I am sure Osamu will agree, we would be happy to help you.” Izuku hugged him tighter. Torino wrapped his arms around the boy. Even if he doesn’t get OFA, I will not let him give up simply cause they say so. The world would miss out having a hero like Izuku.
The next time the two pros went to see Izuku, Inko was smiling as Izuku was clearly having a play date. Well. They would use it extreme loosely. Izuku was basically being forced to play a villain, whilst his friend was a hero. Osamu flinched at the popping sound during a conversation between Inko and Torino.
“Katsuki, we spoke about using your quirk in the house.” Inko called.
“Sorry Auntie.” The boy said, not really sounding sorry. Inko sighed and shook her head with a smile.
“Izuku?” Osamu called, concerned. The small greenette peeked from the living. “Are you okay?” He asked
“Let the boys be boys Osamu.” Inko waved off his concern.
“Hey deku, come on!” Bakugo Katsuki yelled, Izuku flinched. Osamu beckoned him. Izuku came forward, clutching his arm. There was a small burn. Osamu sighed, picking Izuku up and sitting him on the table, that is when Inko noticed it. She went to say something.
“Get that brats parents here now. I think we should inform them of the laws.” Torino growled getting a first aid kit.
“It was an accident.” Katsuki practically shouted, Inko was trying to assure the Bakugo’s she understand that. Osamu was silent as he patched Izuku up as Torino was trying to defend Izuku, and trying to get them to deal with their son’s behaviour.
“Does he do this often?” Osamu whispered to Izuku, the boy bowed his head, nodding. Osamu was silent. “I think we should work on speed and defence first then, don’t we?” Izuku looked up at him. “To help you defend yourself against the villain?” Izuku covered his mouth giggling lightly, but agreed.
“Thank you, for believing in me… for helping me.” Izuku frowned. “Everyone is mean to me, cause I have no quirk… but… but power doesn’t matter to be a hero does it?”
“The U.A exam works in favour of strong quirks, but believe me. If you have quick thinking mind, and I know you do, you can level the playing field. I know it is years before you should about high school. But if you go for U.A, once the exam starts, run and find something to help you. I know there are two paths… but there is one, the main one I would like to happen.” Osamu said
“Why?” Izuku asked, Osamu smiled.
“Because I would like to see you as the first quirkless pro hero.” Izuku’s eye widened, and he smiled.
“I’ll try.” He nodded. Osamu knew it was the hardest future he saw, he would just need to speak to Toshinori, and that reply will set the future.
Izuku yawned, heading downstairs for a drink of water, as he entered the kitchen he saw the living room light on. He could hear his father and uncle Osamu talking. About something called One for All… how it was his fathers quirk. Izuku peeked into to find Toshinori and Osamu standing face to face glaring.
“He is the perfect successor. He will be a great hero, and will be a great one with or without it.” Osamu said.
“He’s 4 years old! No, he needs to kept safe, he, he can’t be a hero… if destroying his dreams keeps him alive… It’s what I must do…” Toshinori bowed his head, Izuku felt tears well up in his eyes.
“I see… then, what will happen now… you have no one to blame but yourself… “ Osamu said, he could see Izuku turning away and heading towards the stairs. “I am sorry for the loss you are going to go through.” With that Osamu left the house hold, texting Torino with what had occurred, he had to tell the older man what he saw.
