Interesting that it's not a more common interpretation of Solas that he wants you to stop him.

By the end of trespasser (with a romanced or friendly Inquisitor, at least.) He lays out his plan and what the consequences will be. He says he's been committed this so long he has to continue. Inquisitor has shown him this world is beautiful too, but he's too stuck on his own mistakes vis-a-vis Elf Mortality.

Solas is too sad of a man about his own future actions to give me any impression other than someone who is clinging to a sunk cost.

He knows it isn't right. His time with the Inquisition proved these people are just as alive and worthy of this world as the ancient Elves. He just can't let go. Not when his actions doomed Elves to a life of being overwhelmingly magic-less and second class citizens, as well as mortal. It's too personal, too "his fault" to let go even when he knows it's not the right action anymore.

So he tells his friend, a doomed mortal who stumbled in to being a hero by being at the wrong place at the wrong time and also the person who has been fighting for the sake of Thedas this whole time. He gave us his plan.

Solas wants the Inquisitor after him, so that he doesn't have to give it up, he wants to be stopped. He's an idiot clinging to a sunk cost fallacy, and he can't let go. He needs us to tear him away from it.

Zevran: You know, I have never considered using magic in combat. Then again, it was never an option for me back in Thedas, but that was kind of fun!
Astarion: Majority of elves know at least some magic here. It's in our blood, after all, but to think that you've only scratched the surface.
Zevran: That sounds promising! You must show me more, yes?
Astarion: Of course, it would be my pleasure, but uh... Should we help your friend out over there first?
Zevran: Who? Him?
Fenris, laid out on the ground, staring up at the sky because he cast a cantrip in the last battle without even trying:

There is no demise more insidious than mortality; capable of rendering even the People to near extinction.

The brevity of it. The horror that something so fickle as time has reduced Elvhenan to little more than woodland dissidents and oblivious city folk. And most terribly, they accept it. Somewhere along the way these elves resigned themselves to a temporary existence, and how can he blame them? He is the reason for all of it.

He is no stranger to death, but until the veil, death possessed a separate definition. It implied a creature slain in some fashion, by its own fate or at the mercy of another. Illness was a rarity, but still possible. Time, however, was never a culprit in and of itself; it could never possess the will to. Little more than a measurement of existence—no aspirations nor consciousness to speak of—and it has managed to utterly sunder The People because of him.

Truly, he has no one to blame but himself. That does not stop him from blaming everyone else, for a time.
