America Ferrera at the 2024 Academy Awards
our boy of eternal suffering
Just realized that the reason I love making friends on tumblr is because it’s exactly how you make friends on the playground as a six year old. No, I don’t know their name but they love mermaids too and built this awesome sand castle. No, I don’t know their age but their imaginary cheetah is friends with mine. You like this show? You like this character?? You can sing the theme song really loud??? Here is a flower crown. Here is a juice box. You can share my time and I might never see you again but part of you stays in my soul forever. In my mind we’re still on the swing set and the sky is blue and nothing will ever be wrong again.
This is god-tier sociological analysis.
What would happen if you got an email
i would check it
You sick fuck.
See you in 1977
It is literally impossible to pick a favorite line from this because the entire thing is gold.
She had no horses but thought she did
The emotional whiplash in this one always gets me. To go from “helping her sons to be disadvantaged youths” and “Brenda was a bird” to “She owed us so many poems” and “In lieu of flowers, send Brenda more life.”

Ever since he interviewed David Duchovny about his book The Reservoir and he spoke about his own writing, I've been wishing so badly that we could read anything that he's worked on - although I'm sure his old writings from when he was starting out will never see the light of day, seems like they were very personal.
But then now he just did a little blurb about director Celine Song for Time Magazine, and I just... help? I can't stop re-reading it. Fucking love how earnest it is and how he uses language. And yeah, I've got it pretty bad for him obviously, but come on - he is GOOD at this.
He writes like a writer, and a skilled one at that. And sure, everything put out by someone who is as famous as he is - especially for a publication as TIME - has been proofed/edited, and for many folks even ghostwritten I'm sure.
But you can tell this is him.
And I just... need a moment.

Girlhood is abruptly switching from this to this and then back again
Watching The Bear is like... What if everyone loved you? What if they loved you so fucking much and what if you did right by them? What if you and your best friend took all your traumas and mixed them together and decided no-one else should go through that shit to be meaningful in your world? What if you fucked up and then got to take a breath and clean up and apologize? What if they gave you a chance and then helped you back up when you fell and you got to come through for them, over and over and over? Wouldn't that be so nice?

Are you frustrated you can't leave second kudos on AO3? or third kudos? or whatever-who's-counting kudos?
Well, have I got the html for you!
Plop any of these in a comment (by copy&pasting the code) to make an author's day and show your appreciation!
It will look something like this (and will be transparent with white outline on dark backgrounds):
Feel free to spread and use these as much as you like! (and if you have ideas for other variations, let me know ✌️)
