The 2015 Hamilton discourse got the point of one healthy able-bodied white american girl pretending to be a disabled middle eastern lesbian couple with HIV so that she could write a modern AU of Hamilton about HIV, who was then caught in the act by another fic writer who had a grudge against her because she’d attacked them for writing a Hamilton AU where the founding fathers are cannibalistic mermaids, and the reason she had attacked them for it was because somehow that was cultural appropriation.

Seriously. Whatever hot take you have about Hamilton, I promise you several dozen people already said it years ago, and if I have to see this shit again I’m going to throw myself into the fucking sun

people are talking about it again because its getting big again because its rereleasing on streaming services, and its still having huge impacts on historical revisionism, its literally changed how people talk about the founding fathers, and also because its getting big again its getting more money for lin manuel miranda, who has had very real very big very bad effects on Puerto Rican politics, with hamilton basically acting as a media arm for his families little political empire

i get that a lot of dumb shit happened with hamilton for sure, but painting it as just like ~wild tumblr fandom drama~ when its mostly like, black people on tumblr talking about the awful real world effects its had and still has, and also just how awful it feels to have slaveowners portrayed as relatable goofballs, seems a bit disingenuous

This revival of Oklahoma! directed by Bill Rauch casted every main character to be lesbian, gay, bi, or trans. This obviously created a whole new level of depth to the show, none more apparent than in one of the most iconic duets in musical theatre, “People Will Say We’re in Love.” Here Curly and Laurey talk about people thinking they’re in love with each other, and the hesitation they have to show affection for each other because of it, now influenced by comp het and the fear of what their community will think of their relationship.  Note: audio was posted with permission from the master. I just need to personally remind people that Saff in Tiger King is a trans man and that producers knew this yet used his deadname and wrong pronouns on purpose because the news clips of the accident used “she” for him so they didn’t even try to be respectful

Producers are transphobic and if you know this about Saff and still call him by his deadname, you are too.

sharing for anybody like me, who def got the male vibe from Saff while watching, but did not know this–the film doesn’t mention it at all iirc.  I mean, I’m cishet so it’s not my place to say, i guess, but it doesn’t seem like it would have been all that hard to include at least one sentence explaining and then use the guy’s proper name. (then again I have heard they also left Joe Exotic’s kid completely out, so, there’s that too.)

Saff and the gal from the DA’s office in the last ep are literally the only folks in the whole ball of yarn that i don’t dislike/hate in a major way. just sayin. 

Literally all they would have had to do is just…call him ‘him’, and not use his deadname. Would’ve been simple.

TBH I’m of the opinion of “Why did they make a whole show of these awful trashfire human beings who do not deserve any attention or recognition at all” myself.

The excuse was that the central point of Saff’s involvement was the tiger attack (spoiler alert) and the news footage of that uses all “she” pronouns. I’m not sure if Saff wasn’t out yet, or news reporters didn’t know that he was out, or he was out and everyone knew but just didn’t respect him. Either way he seems to be very much like “I know who I am and you calling me the wrong name won’t change the man I know I am” and like.... im thats not the biggest dick energy on this pissing contest of a show then I don’t know what is!
