13 Moons Reading Challenge 2024 — Announcement

So it’s finally time for the announcement of the 13 Moons reading challenge for 2024. Another year, another list of prompts that will make your reading journey exciting. This reading challenge is created by me for the entire reading community. So if you love reading or are looking for a reading challenge to try for the upcoming year, then here is one for you. 

Rules & Levels

The rules for this reading challenge are simple. First of all, this is just for fun so no need to feel pressured into doing anything or reading anything you don’t want to. You can also be flexible with the prompts if you choose to do so. The challenge will run from January 1st, 2024 and till December 31st, 2024.

There are a total of 104 reading prompts divided into 13 categories. There is a list of levels given and you can choose which level you wish to participate in based on your preference. The levels you can participate in are as follows:

Penumbral Lunar Eclipse: 13 books — fulfill one prompt from each category 

Partial Lunar Eclipse: 26 books — fulfill at least one prompt from each category

Central Lunar Eclipse: 52 books — fulfill at least one prompt from each category

Total Lunar Eclipse: 104 books — fulfill all the prompts

The reading challenge is given below. I am trying to create a graphic for it, and if I succeed I’ll edit this post and attach the graphic later, but for now I will write it all down here in case you wish to participate and plan your TBR. So without further ado, here is the 13 Moons reading challenge 2024.

Buck Moon

Sturgeon Moon

  • Book with a map
  • Book that people have been forcing you to read
  • Book with a title that starts with the first letter of your name

Harvest Moon

  • An anthology

I just realize in this scene the male humming voice is not part of the bgm but it’s really Vash’s voice

As we than see child Vash humming Nai’s song in the memory world

We learn that it’s actually Vash’s fucking comfort song and Nai’s answering ‘hmm’ is so soft i’m floored.

Is this something that Nai already know so that’s why he keeps playing it everytime he remember Vash? Or is it like a sentiment that they shared together? The only things that stays the same for the two of them even to this day?

But then

in the closing we get a look of Erick-Vash keep trying to play the tune again and again as he seems to only remember fragments of it, while seemingly mourning on Nai’s death..

I love rereading aftg so I can watch Neil's personality gradually shift from "just a Normal Guy here :) :) :) no really I'm soooooo Normal :) :) just a Boring Regular Guy :) :)" to the human personification of a feral racoon that's been shaken up in a trash can and then released into an expensive hotel lobby

Something I've never seen pointed out in the aftg fandom is a certain aspec of the scene where Neil and Andrew are sleeping together in the cabin and Renee knocks on the door. We talk about how great it is that Neil reaches for a gun and hits Andrew's arm instead - something that will still protect him.

But can we appreciate that Andrew was asleep? Andrew who we see sleeping through a lot of different things from team meetings to bus rides, but will wake up violently when he's touched. When Renee knocks, its described as a tap of her nails. I don't see that actually waking Andrew, but Neil touching his arm in a desperate search for a gun? That would wake him up, but Andrew doesn't lash out at Neil. He just looks at him before getting out of bed.

Now, Andrew could have already been awake and Neil didn't know it or maybe a tap of nails did wake him, but I think Andrew was asleep. I think even then Andrew trusted Neil more than anyone knew. I think he kept reminding himself about Neil's presence before falling asleep (to the point he put his arm under Neil's pillow) so he wouldn't react violently when Neil inevitably shifted and touched him in his sleep. I think he used Neil's head on his arm as a grounding technique because he didn't want to risk hurting Neil when he was already so injured and he just likes being close to him. And I think this moment speaks volumes to Andrew's healing and just how much he loves his feral boyfriend.

One time Andrew gets stuck in a rainstorm coming back to the dorms. When he gets back, Neil sees him soaking wet and fully clothed, and he is immediately hit with the memory of The Shower Scene tm. Andrew calls him out for being flustered and Neil admits what has him distracted. And if Andrew always refuses to use an umbrella or rain coat or even walk a little quicker when it rains in the future that’s no one’s business.
