Conservative politicians and commentators are claiming that a recent spate of cop killings means police officers are being βhuntedβ thanks to the rhetoric of the Black Lives Matter movement, which criticizes racist policing. One cop even faked his own shooting amid the hubbub, triggering a city-wide manhunt. But despite the fearmongering headlines, the historical trend shows otherwise.

Things KPOP/K Hip-hop fans need to stop doing /EDITED:
β’ Being queerphobic - To say that idols canβt be anything than heterosexual is ridiculous. You have hundreds of idols of different backgrounds and experiences, to say that none of them could be queer is just small minded and downright ignorant. But this also implies to fans who only want an idol to be gayΒ βso their ship can come trueβ. Or say βAs long as their gay for the person I ship them with Iβm happy if their gayβ. Guess what? Youβre just as small minded and ignorant as the person who doesnβt want to believe in queer idols.
β’Β Shaming Female Idols - Donβt start calling female idols/celebrities βslutsβ because she came two feet within your fav. Female idols work just as hard as male idols, if not even harder. Misogyny is rampant in the entertainment industry. They deserve the same respect as male idols.Β
β’ Fatphobia - Idols like B.A.Pβs Himchan have literally talked about suffering from a eating disorder. Idols have even talked about living on βwater dietsβ. Idols are force to starve themselves to be the βprefectβ or βdesiredβ weight. So please donβt say β____ should lose weightβ or β____ is hotter now since they lost weightβ.
β’ Using AAVE incorrectly - Stop making posts saying an idol is βbae as fuckβ. You look like a damn fool. If you arenβt 100% sure what a word means donβt use it. With that being said donβt make fake subs of an idol saying βniggaβ. No nonblack person should be saying nigga in the first damn place. And if you are not black you have no right to tell black people they shouldnβt say nigga either. That is our word to reclaim.Β
β’ Anti-Blackness - Y'all ainβt slick. Anytime an idol gets within 2 feet of a Black person some of you start singing βI hope Oppa is safeβ or βThose girls need to back upβ. But when theyβre near a Korean girl or white girl itβs always βIβm so jealous!β. When BTS was in L.A that was majority of the comments.
β’ βPedonoonaβ - This isnβt funny. If you are a grown woman, stop lusting after an idol under 18. Nothing is cute or quirky about a 20+ year old woman wanting to have sex with a person whoβs still in high-school. You are NOT βadmiringβ them, so donβt try use that as an excuse when you get called out. As much as male kpop fans get dragged for making sexual comments about younger female idols, female fans doing it should be no different. Iβm honestly disgusted by the amount of fans trying to defend their pedophilia. If you take a person telling that you are revolting for sexualizing a minor as them telling you what to do, you need serious help.
β’ Leaving gross comments on idolβs SNS - Again, this isnβt funny. A man telling a woman he hardly knows βhow hard I amβ or to βsuck my dickβ is the exact same thing when a woman tells a man she hardly knows βhow wet I amβ or to βeat me outβ. If you canβt message an idol to have a decent conversation, donβt do it at all.
β’ βThatβs just how Korea is!β - Stop. Donβt you dare clump all 50 million people together when your 1 bias fucks up. Thatβs not how Korea is, thatβs how YOUR fav is. Korean fans have said time and time again to stop saying this. Why? Because itβs a racist generalization of their culture. When Korean fans can admit that an idol fucked up then international fans need to do the same.
β’ Whitewashing - Honestly, itβs like beating a dead horse at this point. Itβs already been proven that it is possible to make a picture brighter without touching an idolβs skin tone. A simple Google search will get you hundreds of tutorials on how to not alter a personβs skin. Youβre just being lazy and refuse to learn how to make better edits if you claim itβs not impossible to bleach an idol in an edit. You claim to love everything about an idol but constantly make their skin lighter?
β’ Defending EYK - Just donβt. People have stated so many times why these people are nothing but gross racists. Everything down to their refusal to improve their butchered Korean, only to make fun of idolsβ English to their βGender Guessingβ game. Do I even need to go into detail on why referring to a human being as βitβ is just downright dehumanizing. Not to mention just how transphobic the entire game is to assume a personβs gender just because they have feminine or masculine features. Just stop defending them.
β’ Groping Idols - Do I really have to explain why touching a person you donβt know inappropriately is wrong? I know itβs exciting seeing your bias up close in person but donβt put your hands on them.
β’ Making fun idolsβ βEngrishβ - If you expect a person who grew up in Korea their entire life to speak perfect English is just astounding. If you can barely say βhelloβ in Korean donβt you dare poke fun at their English.
β’ D*rp/R*tard jokes - Ableism isnβt funny. Mental illnesses are nothing that needs to be made fun of. Youβre not showing your quirky way of showing love to someone. And donβt say these words are not directly making fun of people with neurological disorders.Because where do you think these word came from? It shouldnβt be hard to take these words out of your vocabulary and edits.
β’ Inappropriate Gifts - Stop giving idols your panties, menstrual blood, sex toys, or OTP fanart/ fanfics. Why would you think that shit is cute in the first place?
β’ Transphobia - Idols like F(x) Amber and Nu'est Ren have talked about how much it hurts them when fans misgender. Amber has been in tears discussing how much it hurts when fans call her oppa. And Ren has spoken about being harassed in menβs restrooms because of his appearance. Just donβt do it.
β’ βOppa/ Unni didnβt mean it!β - Yeah, just because a personβs intentions werenβt harmful doesnβt mean the end result wasnβt. Weβve all done problematic things but we all get called out on it. When we get called out we learn from it and know not to do it again. Cradling your fav when they do something offensive isnβt helping them learn. If you were not personally offended an idol does something offensive donβt tell others they shoudnβt be. Because 9/10 if you werenβt offeneded by it, itβs not something that effects you.Β
β’ Fetishing - You donβt βhave a thingβ for Koreans. You just like some Korean idols. βLoving Asian menβ is not a compliment. And by Asian you really just mean East Asian. Again clumping some million people together is a racist generalization. So donβt date East Asian men and women only because they remind you of your fav. Donβt hold these men and women on a higher pedestal than any other race solely because you watched a kdrama and you think Korean people are like your favorite character. Just donβt.
β’ Taking down about American Hip-Hop - Thereβs no way in Hell that people who adopted a genre are better at it than the people who created it. K Hip-hop lyrics are no different from American lyrics. To make claim that K Hip-hop artists have βbetter lyricsβ American rap is just amazing. What makes your fav any different? Korean rappers are always saying their biggest inspiration was in fact an American rapper. If it werenβt for Black Americans creating yet another genre of music your Korean fav wouldnβt be where they are today.
