“You’re not alone, not anymore.”
The Dark Elf paused, raising his head to look at this woman, this Time Lord, who had chosen to stand by his side. His dual hearts swelled inside his chest. He was proud to call her his daughter.
'For how much longer then, eh? How long 'til your recklessness does her in?'
One hand clenched by his side, vowing no such volatile loss would occur. Jenny was stronger than that, a Dark Elf in every way but appearance.
The hard lines in his face softened, and the ghost of gratitude (and perhaps relief) tugged at his mouth.
"I am grateful for that," he said. "Thank you."
Jenny’s face beams as she smiles back her own hearts swelling in delight and happiness. The smiles on this man’s face (even if it wasn’t much of one by some standards) were rare, few and far between. To get them she felt was a privilege so few got, she sensed. To be among those few she felt so glad of it.
“No need to thank me. Thank you for letting me stay.” It had been him that allowed her to tag along with him, where they may go in this universe. She didn’t know how she got here to begin with, and didn’t think such a thing as a tear in the universe would happen a second time, so would more than likely stay in this universe. His allowing her to stay here made the sadness if not completely go away, made it easier to bare.
