Hi! I just recently read your Rochambeau fic on AO3, and I have to say, I was instantly addicted. It's been a while since you've updated, so I just wanted to ask: do you have plans to continue, and if so, when? Thanks!

Hey there!

I know that John did have interest in continuing Rochambeau, but we also have very little time and frankly I’ve lost a lot of my motivation. As of now, I can’t say for sure. Thanks for the interest though! :)

hello person! i just wanted to say that i reallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreally love rochambeau and i love the idea of a really empowering camp for queer people, so i wanted to ask you - where did you get the basis for the camp/what gave you the idea for it? did you go to one similar to it? if so, where can i find one? :-) again, sososo much luv

Actually, I found the idea on tumblr! OP deactivated awhile ago so the post is gone, but there was a post that suggested the idea and so I ran with it!!

ps!!!!!! i touch myself to rochambeau!!!

Okay, I was about to just respond with like “what the fuck” or whatever but honestly I can’t just let this shit lie.

Here’s the deal, you actual fuckstain: Rochambeau is a story about teenagers becoming comfortable with their queer identities. NONE of the main characters are over 18. NONE. They are KIDS.

Moreover, Rochambeau, as I’ve mentioned a few times before, is specifically based off of my and especially John’s actual, real life experiences as autistic queer teenagers. As in, our teenage experiences that we’re having right now.

To recap: the characters are teenagers and the authors are teenagers writing about their experiences as teenagers, and therefore you are absolutely disgusting.

Sure you are "honeybun". Pretty sure you said you were bi, which is not gay last time I checked.

I mean, if you really want to get technical, I’m grey-asexual biromantic, but the point is, I’m not straight, which is what you called me in your first ask. And wow, really? I had no idea. I’m so glad that you, some random stranger on the internet with no life and a stick up their posterior, know the person I’ve been going out with for a year better than I do.

Just wondering: will you continue writing camp rochambeau fanfic?? It's too good not to continue!!

Awww y’all are so great. I don’t really know when I’ll be updating but know that I haven’t officially given up on the piece yet.

Reblog if you write fanfic and would be totally down with your followers coming into you askbox and talking to you about your fic

I sometimes get messages about my fics and see other authors get messages like “oh my god im sorry to bother you but-” or apologizing profusely for sending multiple asks.

I promise you guys. Absolutely 0 writers are bothered by you talking to them about their fics. If you want to know a detail or are confused about something they are almost definitely sitting ready with an answer that they are excited to talk about.

Don’t feel like you HAVE to message writers (tho if you liked a fic a lot leaving comments is great encouragement) but never apologize for asking about fics or talking about them!

I’d be okay with that.  :)

Reblogging this from @sixelamarr who knows I have done this before. With every single one of her fics I have read.

And is totally thrilled and loved that you do comment on all my trash writing. …I am blessed, thank you!

Sorry, but what business does a straight girl have writing about gay conversion therapy and integrating it into the plot of a story simply for angst value?

I’m gay, honey bun. I’m gay. I’m really, really, really fucking gay.

i don’t think people really get how little feedback fanfic authors actually get? like the effort to reaction ratio is so abysmally skewed here that a fic nearly 50,000 words long takes an entire year to amass like. 16 comments. someone reblogged a fic i wrote at 4 am and tagged it with a 5-word compliment and i can’t stop thinking about it, not because it was so nice but because half the time you post a fic you’re going to hear nothing and anything feels like so much

fandom culture is so, so good about giving artists the credit they’re due, but we gotta start doing that for writers too. you’ve got no idea how much people put into their stories and get maybe a handful of reblogs and a dozen-odd kudos. that’s not enough. writing is an endurance sport and y’all need to start giving fic writers a reason to endure it and improve their craft. encourage writers like you encourage artists. reblog fics, leave tags, leave comments, acknowledge that these stories do not just spring into being for your entertainment.

every single damn writer i know feels like at least their readers see them as a machine. that’s gotta change.

"Love Like You," the end song from Steven Universe, reimagined as a duet, as arranged by me. I performed both parts, trying to sing with a different voice quality for each one... although I did end up using GarageBand's EQ a little bit to help. For best effect, listen with headphones, as I set each part a little bit to the side. Enjoy!

Hi! I was reading your fic, and had some questions about autism (if you don't mind me asking- just trying to educate myself). Both John and Alex seem fluent in reading body language and impractical language, and in my experience with autistic people, even those who were affected less by autism have trouble with that, do you mind educating me a little?

Hi there! The explanation here is twofold:

First, autism presents itself differently from autie to autie. Some autistic people are terrible at reading body language. Others are not. Also worth noting that, as an autistic person who is frequently nonverbal, John uses body language (and ASL) to communicate.

But more importantly, I decided to make Alex and John autistic multiple chapters into the piece. As I’ve mentioned multiple times, @gayacejohnlaurens gave me that idea; it was not my own, and I didn’t take that suggestion for quite awhile. So if those fluencies appeared in earlier chapters (chapters 1-4ish), it could be because I hadn’t been coding them as autistic at that point.

Thank you for asking; I love questions like this!
