I really hate how “queer” is being used so freely among writers now.

Even non-lgbt people are using it to say shit like “queer characters” and “queer stories” and “queer writers”. If you’re straight and cis don’t fucking use that word. It’s not your word to reclaim.

I’m not fucking “queer”. That word is a slur and not everyone is comfortable with it. Stop using it as an umbrella term. Stop using it to describe every lgbt person. Just because you like to use it for yourself doesn’t mean that everyone else likes it.

I hate the way this word has shoved itself into the writing world. If I see one more post titled something like “new queer books for 2015″ I’m going to jump out a window.

It’s so fucked up that women are so universally dismissed and hated in society that nearly every single woman goes through a phase (if not a lifetime) of thinking she isn’t like other women purely because she has rational thoughts, hobbies, feelings, and needs.

Tumblr shits love giggling among themselves about the clueless ‘neurotypicals’ who recommend yoga and walks in the woods, but that kind of advice is really not far off, even if you have depression. Physical exercise gets you back in touch with your body, which brings your mind into alignment with reality. It also teaches accountability and goal-achievement. There’s a reason every fitness buff on the planet says it’s mostly mental, and that’s because exercise requires (and helps) you develop greater mental strength and inner self-knowledge. Also, logging off and just sitting in your backyard a bit could help interrupt internet addicted behaviour. Just stop being anti-recovery, please. Exercise and eating better won’t solve your depression or anxiety, but a sedentary lifestyle will definitely make it worse.

dear tweens and teens: please dont equate “self care” with buying a bunch of useless shit because some shill account on instagram told you to. any type of “self care” that involves consumerism is snake oil and a better way to care for yourself and build your personal self worth is through self actualizing activities i.e. go make art, go plant trees, go volunteer for a food bank, go organize!!!
