I legitimately didn’t know about this before the second I saw this post but I looked into it and pewdiepie legitimately denounced this person and legitimately said that he felt sickened having his name said by that person.

What pdp and the edgelords like him don’t grasp is that being able to “joke” about these things and then distance yourself from them with no personal ramifications is a MASSIVE privilege. The ability to never have to take responsibility for how one’s actions impact the world around them is a privilege. Claiming something is a joke doesn’t mean it’s not still racist. Even if you didn’t REALLY mean “kill X group,” it’s still racist because the message that you are sending loud and clear is that your privilege to make “edgy” jokes as a white man safe behind a computer screen is more important than all those people’s rights to live safely and without fear. Genocide and acts of terror shouldn’t be JOKES to you.
