A comic I did over a year ago based off the events of a one-shot. Our group ran DDAL 05-02 The Black Road, and we were tasked to escort a caravan across a desert and assist in making a delivery with some NPCs. Well the NPCs tasked with driving the wagons had no type of description attached to them, and our dungeon master felt we would have more reason to be attached to these guys if we had some part in naming/describing them. The rogue and I (the bard) just came up with whatever dumb names we could think of off the top of our head, but the cleric figured she’d use a random name generator instead. Thus Peaceblade Havilar– coolness personified and dragonborn extraordinaire– was born.

…She didn’t last very long of course, since her coolness of personality did nothing to buff her commoner stat block, but she’ll live on in our memories… or something like that.

Oh yeah btw I helped make a bite-sized horror game for our group’s BFA senior project. I was primarily tasked with animating the main character, but I also did a fair amount of concept art for props and such. It’s free to download for Windows here if you want to check it out. (Feel free to click that link even if you’re not interested in downloading it, either– it won’t auto-download anything and it’s got screenshots and our trailer if you wanted to take a peek.)

PS it might give you a security warning when you try to run it, but that’s because it’s a student game and we haven’t figured out how to get rid of that RIP

Also now people are talking about how I would make a great Assistant Manager. My old Store Manager stopped in today and told me I'd be perfect because I'm a hard worker and I'm reliable and I have great attention to detail.

Everyone here just makes me feel so good about myself. This job has honestly given me such a huge confidence boost. Everyone is incredibly supportive. One of the other associates even told me I should just go for AM because everyone already thinks I'd be great. "We all believe in you," she said. That honestly meant so much to me. It's one of those things I'm always going to remember.

I'm in a good place these days.

Lmao one of my managers drew this for me today

TEAM LEAD: You would be a great Team Lead!
ASSISTANT MANAGER: Oh my god you would make my life SO MUCH EASIER if you were a Team Lead. You'd be PERFECT.
DISTRICT MANAGER: You've really impressed us all! You should really talk to [Store Manager] about becoming a Team Lead!
ME: So I was thinking about being a Team Lead
STORE MANAGER: I will literally stop interviewing people for that position right now if you're interested in it

The past week in a nutshell. So...a promotion seems to be looming on the horizon. I guess it's okay to be proud of myself.

Lmao that's such a great compliment, I love it. Thenk

I think...I've Just finally found the right place for me. Like, I genuinely care about what I'm doing here. There's a huge emphasis placed on education; we're expected to do worksheets on different products each shift, and get paid for it. The classes I intended went in-depth about things like cat and dog digestive systems, and a history of the pet food industry [not just my company].

I'm gunning for a position at the corporate office if possible, tbh. They have a dedicated education department and plenty of other appealing positions besides. And the majority of the people there started where I am now: a sales associate. They rarely hire from outside the company for positions there, instead promoting from within. It's just a matter of me finding the right niche and then getting noticed for it. Which seems 100% doable considering my current status.

I'm so proud of myself.

This is gonna be a braggy post lmao

So, I went to a week of intense new-hire training that was basically a string of college crash-course classes in pet nutrition abs related things.

Anyways, I fuckin killed it, apparently. My store manager told me he got the feedback from my training:

  • Quiet first day, active participation the remaining time
  • During group projects, showed clear leadership
  • Groups I was in consistently scored the highest
  • I also scored the highest on every test, missing only one question for the entirety of the training

So, apparently I impressed some people...and now I've been granted a full-time position. With benefits. Which they rarely do for anyone that isn't in management.

Guys, I get health insurance and pet insurance. I get full-time hours starting this coming week.

There isn't a full-time position available in my store [TL], but I can split my time between there and another store [SA]. Apparently the district manager wanted to send me to SA outright, but my store manager told her I was "too good to lose" and that my "work ethic is incredible" and he wants me full-time in TL if/when the opportunity arises.

So. Yeah. I'm doing REALLY well. I'm incredibly appreciated and the managers are always letting me know it. Even the other associates like working with me because I actually work and work hard. Shit gets done.

I do the best I can and it's finally paying off. Benefits!

My [ex] boss' unbridled joy about the drawing I made of her dogs is giving ne so much life. I don't think I've ever had someone be this excited about one of my drawings.

Anyways she sent it out in a group text but she accidentally included ne instead of one of the assistant managers lmao

One of my co-workers baked me an entire-ass apple cheesecake for my upcoming birthday. I have been here for like a month-and-a-half. It looked professional as fuck. She also made a mango cheesecake for our store manager of five years, who's leaving the company next week.

They're the only cheesecakes I've ever had that are actually good. Holy shit. I hate cheesecake but these are DELICIOUS.

This is a good place.
