Layering is an art of combining of your clothing which is aesthetically pleasing to the human eye. Knowing how to harmonize the colors and patterns is crucial and it’s also essential to be bold and experiment with the right wardrobe pieces. I like to minimize my wardrobe by owning a few basics to create an extremely versatile style. Despite its simplicity, wearing a waistcoat definitely stands out to show character. It certainly displays elegance and natural flair. Thank you, Nick Urteaga (Coastal Flicks) for the wonderful shoot. It was fun working with you. A special thanks to The Tailory New York for exhibiting an effortless style and pioneering a contemporary aesthetic menswear designed for women. suit / The Tailory New York shirt / Cego NYC tie & pocket square / vintage vest / no name shoes / Allen Edmonds

Sushi is not as healthy as you think girls, think twice before you binge!

No, eating two 8-pieces of sushi is not like eating 6 entire slices of white bread.

It’s like eating two 8-pieces of sushi.

Compare that just to the 6 slices of white bread shown, which clock in at 390 calories (149 under the sushi), 6 grams of fat (12 under), 78 grams of carbs (14 under), 3.6 grams of fiber (9.2 under), and 11.4 grams of protein (21.6 under). The additional mayo, raw tuna, avocado, imitation crab meat and seaweed (which are listed in almost comically low portions compared to their actual representations in sushi) add a bit more to the meal, but not significantly.

So the big question here is: Why bother comparing these things? One side is definitely not like the other. Not only are you changing the literal foods represented, but you’re changing their nutritional qualities too. Eating one meal here is similar, but really not comparable, to eating the other. So why put such different things side by side?

The answer: It’s a scare tactic. When people share this meme, it’s because they know that the general public is afraid of white bread. We’re told that white bread is something to be avoided. So by showing 6 entire slices (and cutting them in half in order to make it look like there’s even more bread being shown!), you’re using that fear in order to push people away from other foods too. This is compounded by using the word “binge” to describe such a meal, as though there is something overwhelming and automatically disordered about eating this amount of food.

The reality is: You can eat bread. You can eat rice. Carbs are a necessary part of our diets that provide us with energy. None of this is inherently bad for you, nor is it something to be avoided. If you’re hungry and this stuff looks good for you, eat either meal!

Reblogging for the final comment

Honestly the ‘girls’ especially really bugs me for some reason - at least the other stupid posts like this I’ve seen had the decency not to be gender-specific. It just feels so condescending and it really gets under my skin.

especially with the risk of eating disorders young women have, combined with language like ‘binge’ this is basically a clear visualization of many people’s disordered eating. Don’t eat this food, eat a healthier food. eat a healthier alternative to your healthy alternative. you need to fear food, this food is ‘like’ this other food that’s bad so don’t eat it.

eventually the only ‘safe’ thing to do is to not eat food, or to punish yourself for eating food.

so I would argue that this meme isn’t just inaccurate or annoying in its visualization + with the shitty comment below it. it’s violent. allow women and girls to eat what they’d like to eat in peace.

#I want to know how much race plays into this too #like why pick on Asian food #and trying to compare it to Western food #at least switch the bread for actual fuckin’ rice ^^^This

Rose Water for Soft, Silky Locks

Rose water makes a excellent moisturizer for both the skin and hair! It is hydrating, and contains flavonoids, anti-oxidants, tannins and and vitamins A, C, D, E and B3.

From my experience: Rose water has made my curls soft, silky, and strong! Which is quite odd because I don’t have a silky texture (it’s naturally dry and soft?) so I was quite excited when I felt my curls the next morning. Since rose water is light it doesn’t cause much build up.

What I recommend: After washing your hair allow your hair to air dry. Once dry part your hair in as many sections as you can tolerate. Next grab a section spray on some rose water and apply coconut oil. Coconut oil acts as a sealant and so if your hair is naturally dry it will trap in all moisture. Coconut oil also makes the hair much easier to detangle.
