seven years ago in the name of tolerating free speech from all political perspectives my nasty ass evil university let an army of tiki torch wielding nazis shouting jews will not replace us march through grounds threatening the lives of students and community members with zero police presence. and today they retroactively changed campus policy around tents so they could send in the cops to bust up the gaza memorial vigil. genuinely fucking stomach turning
state troopers just showed up in full riot gear prepared to brutalize people for violating a university policy the university changed an hour ago specifically so they could arrest them. i am sick.

Hamad and his family were displaced from their home in north Gaza very soon after the occupation began its collective punishment campaign against the Gaza Strip. They were displaced to Rafah, where they have been sheltering ever since. Tragically, Hamad’s father was martyred by the occupation in January, leaving behind Hamad, his mother, his wife, their baby girl, and his sister. They are still mourning his loss, and still have no home, no employment, no cash or savings, and no refuge.
Rafah has been under bombardment for 7 months, but the attacks have dramatically increased over the past few weeks. Now the occupation is actively invading Rafah, continuing its scorched policy against the 1.5 million innocent civilians there.
Hamad and his family are trying to raise funds for their evacuation from Gaza. They are surrounded by constant bombings, and have nowhere to go. They require funds to begin evacuation proceedings from Gaza to Egypt so that they can evacuate once Rafah crossing reopens. However, their campaign has made very, very little progress.
Hamad and his family are alone, they are isolated from relatives within the Gaza Strip and they have no relations outside of Gaza to who can support their evacuation and rehouse them. They are exhausted and terrified and have nowhere else to turn. Please be their hope in this agonizing time. Please help support this family by donating to and/or sharing their fundraiser. If you cannot donate, please help Hamad’s family by reblogging this post, reblogging Hamad’s posts on his own blog @wlaabkr, and reposting this link to your own blogs and to your other social media accounts.
I think the hot new trends for this summer should be reading comprehension and critical thinking skills
As a Jew I wholeheartedly believe that, folks who are pretending nothing is wrong and Palestinians aren't being murdered every day would have absolutely ignored the Holocaust and let my folks get killed without blinking an eye.
Americans have a lot of heroic fantasies about what they would have done during the Holocaust or chattel slavery, and the answer for a lot of them is absolutely nothing. They would have complained about the people actually doing things for being too disruptive. We Jews did the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and they would have called this terrorism. They would have also complained about MLK and Malcolm X, the former of which took the economies of entire cities hostage. Modern day disruptions don't hold a candle to historical disruptions.
In a two of more decades, people are going to use excuses like "I didn't know!" or pretend they were supportive all along, making tear jerking films about the Palestinian plight. We need to not let them do this.
I'm also not asking people to be action heroes or anything, since it takes a very specific kind of person to do that sort of direct resistance. I'm asking for people to actually acknowledge and discuss the fact that there is a genocide going on, and to not pretend things are fine. (This applies to all social justice struggles. Acknowledgement helps normal conversations about it, and de-normalize the ignoring of it like we do for many social problems.)
Also there are many ways to support efforts for justice! The people doing direct action require people to support with costs, food, care supplies, etc. For everyone in a visible position, there are a lot of folks cooking as well.
Joe Biden makes a speech saying Hamas are driven by the ancient desire to eliminate Jews. Hamas was created in 1987, Joe. Ain’t nothing ancient about them. So unless you are implying that Palestinians are driven by the ancient desire to wipe out Jews which is KKK cross burning level of racism, you might want to tone down the racist bullhorn that you are mistaken for a dog whistle.
Liberals were brought to tears by Trump’s racism will nod along to Biden’s open pronouncement to eliminate Palestinians and Arabs in general.

making a list of all of the fundraisers of people who have reached out to me directly on here in order to have them all in one place. all of them have either been vetted by other users or i verified them personally by checking their other social media accounts (like twitter or instagram) to confirm. everyone here definitely needs support, a lot of their family members are injured or in need of medical care that is not available in gaza. i am also linking their tumblr accounts so that you can follow them to keep up with their campaigns.
