Today at Ae

David Gfroerer, FAS Custom Bicycle

Of all the awesome bike-themed works we have on display right now, this one really stands out as a perfect example of "bike art".

The team at FAS Custom Bicycles is extremely passionate about combining art, cycling, and their community -- just like us at Ae! -- and the result of that passion is a collection of supercool, one-of-a-kind bicycles!

To see more awesome bikes, check out their website: http://www.fascustombicycles.com/Home_Page.html

Today at Ae Since many of us are returning to a work week today I thought we could use a two-for-one. Jenny Ramstad (top right, bottom left) and Kelsey King (top left, bottom right) Thursday, May 30th 1p - 7p is the last day to visit Altered Esthetics and see [Insert Title Here]. Our next show, opening on Friday, June 7th 7p - 10p, is our annual Bike Art show. This year marks our 8th year and we are excited to present a great group of bike themed art.

Carolyn Joy Ellis, Untitled #ae #alteredesthetics #art #gallery #minneapolis (at Altered Esthetics)

Today at Ae

Carolyn investigates reality in her untitled etching by exploring the idea of being in two places at once.

She sees her work as a "mediator between here and there" -- a visual cue that allows the viewer to be present in front of the piece while at the same time being transported across time and distance to a place specific and intimate to each viewer.

I love this approach to thinking about artwork!

Straight Trippin' closes Thursday, March 28th at 7pm. Swing by before then to see the show!

Today at Ae THE ALCOVE!! We had over 50 fantastic submissions for Straight Trippin so we've extended the exhibition into the alcove. This show is truly not one to miss! My personal favorite (not pictured here) is titled "Eyes for You." Come to Ae and find it out in the first floor of the Q.arma Building!

Today at Ae

Amy Tillotson, Stratoscape (detail)

Pictured here is a detail of Amy Tillotson's Stratoscape. In her landscapes, Amy questions reality by merging the physical environment with emotional connections.

In this detail, you can see Amy's use of paint and digital imagery to create a collage that suggests a visual language that debates inspiration and abstraction.

Please visit Ae to see this work, and all of the other work in our show, in person! Special thanks to those who stopped by today despite the snowy roads!
