Finally decided to do a TVD rewatch now that the 'verse is complete. Since I know how everything ends I thought it would be interesting to see how I react with that knowledge. Curious if my feelings might change about characters, ships, storylines etc. (obviously I am fully aware there's going some bias).

Adding my thoughts after I complete the half-way mark of each season (there is simply too many episodes to do a recap of each one). I am talking to the void mostly here but feel free to leave comments, thoughts on my posts for those who still follow me or just find this post. However, I am not here to argue, I simply DO NOT CARE whatever you think is right totally, please leave me alone.

Is it bad that I roll my eyes every time I read a bad take about steroline ? lol like “Steroline was rushed” and I’m like really…….. 🙄 , idk I’m sometimes asking if we both watch the same show because how do they come up with so many bad takes

Oh I do the same! Steroline is as slow burn as slow burns come, they took their damn time with foreshadowing them and even getting them together! I do remember when 8x01 aired and there were these articles about if they were moving too fast by living together and SC shippers were like ITS BEEN YEARS! I think shipping and fandom in general feels they need an excuse as to why they don’t like something and more people should just be like “they just don’t appeal to me” and leave it at that.

Season 8 Stefan was so fine 😋. Caroline was so lucky 🤭

I know right! Everyone always says S1 Stefan was his hottest but not for me at all, he was way too skinny it was much better when he filled out in the later seasons. And in S7 and S8 his hair was just always perfect and his eyes for whatever reason were much more prominent. Not to be mean but Paul seemed to age much better than Ian oops.

There's this show called summer I turned pretty and from what I have gathered after being bombarded with ads that it's tvd for gen z minus the supernatural. So my sister watches it and she's also watching tvd(she's on s6 now) and keeps making these insane comparisons between the brothers and the main girl. One of them is elena's necklace and that main girl's necklace. Now she has somehow managed to find out that the actor who played teenage damon plays one of the brothers on that show and she dislikes both characters. It's hilarious how I know the whole story just from her ranting without having watched a single episode. At this age, I can't take another love triangle with two brothers fighting over a girl.Thank You.XD!

What's funny Anon is I haven't seen a single second of this show and yet I know exactly what you're talking about because everything I've learned about that show was against my will. My sister watches it too lol, she likes the younger brother the one who played young Damon, she tried explaining it to me once and I was like I'm good on triangles involving brothers for the rest of my life but thanks lol (she watched TVD too but preferred SE). I can't believe there's a necklace on that too, I was always laughing at how that damn necklace kept coming back!

I will say I hope the Summer I Turned Pretty doesn't go longer than like 3 seasons if the focus is a love triangle because that gets so stale after awhile. During my TVD rewatch by S4 I was like god can we just move on? It was rather annoying how much Stefan was ready to move on (even in S3!) and the writers would not let him until they dragged that shit out until the end of S5. And even still, they baited SE at least once a season because they just couldn't let it die. In my paranoid mind I feel like that's why we couldn't get a Stefan/Caroline/Tyler triangle because that would have been an infinitely better triangle to watch than beating a dead horse with the triangle of doom.

You know as a fan I still don’t understand why Paul and Candice doesn’t post any selfies together. Like Candice can hang out and take pics with every guy but Paul and vice versa. At first I think it was Candice who wants to respect her marriage back then but when she was single , she still didn’t even want to take pic with Paul except for that video that Paul shared last December, like idk I still find it weird haha

Actually I do kind of think it's still Candice who's not a big fan of selfies because she's talked about how fans used to manip the TVD guys into photos with her and Joe and it kind of left a bad taste in her mouth. Even if she's not married anymore that might still bother her, plus her new boo is part of the TVD/TO cast as well. Paul seems to use the selfies with her only for exclusive content too, because there's a cute picture of them from Brazil I've seen that he only made public years after that trip.

That maniped photograph was so awful. But from story perspective, when do you think they might have taken it?Stefan's hair seemed like early s2 and Caroline's hair reminded me 2×09 specifically.Gosh how last minute was it?They could have just asked the fans to make one!

Yeah maybe S2, it's not even the time period that bothers me it's that the shadows on Stefan's face are total different than the ones on Caroline's so you know right away it's photoshopped. Except for the Nina and Ian photos they used in S6 which all looked personal (even the one of Caroline, Elena and Stefan looked like BTS) I think they just have the actors take a photo together around the time they film the episode. But Candice was on maternity leave and Paul wasn't in this scene and I guess no one thought to ask him if he had a photo they could use or someone just told an intern to get them a manip. Julie didn't like it either lol, because someone asked her on Twitter why they used a manip and she said Candice was on leave and even said sorry, then she fixed it in S8.

Elena's 18th birthday was the first episode of s3 and by ep5 or 6 it was the first day of senior year which was fall 2010.But the other day, I saw this post from a few years back. It's a picture of a hospital patient tag, posted by Candice, of Caroline from when she was admitted after her car accident in s1 finale and the date of admission on it was 7/13/2010.I'm confused now.

I can safely say after doing a full rewatch this show lived in a non-linear time dimension because I never had any idea how much time passed between episodes or even seasons. For that I think they put the actual date that they filmed the episode, some intern was rushing I bet.

Kw said Stefan & Caroline were ideologically at odds because he wanted to be human and she wanted to be a vampire and I was like umm maybe you hate them Mr. but just don't spout absolute nonsense.Caroline was a vampire and she was still being the most humane of all humans-raising kids, thinking of starting a school for kids, wanting to get married while Stefan who became human was not only alive despite suffering multiple fatal wounds on consecutive days but was still somehow a human with just a small syringe of cure in his system despite losing lots of blood and in the end had just a scratch on his forehead( 'You're a Harry Potter,Stefan')And then like you mentioned,he went on a revenge mission and got kicked & beaten by a 4000 year old psychic and was still A-okay!I don't know I don't think humans see that as day-to-day activity.

I swear every-time that man opened his mouth after the finale I wanted to throw up because he could not stand the idea of Stefan living and not being with Elena in the finale. So I found the article to re-read it and like he's missing the very key aspect that STEFAN HAD THE CURE FORCED ON HIM! He DID NOT want to be human, he literally feel back into depression because he was human, I swear no one ever actually listens to what Stefan says. Here's what he says to Caroline when they're searching for the woman Ripper Stefan left to die and he has a major attitude with Caroline and she rightfully calls him out:

Stefan: Look, I don't know what to think. I don't know how to deal with what I want or what I thought I was gonna have. I don't know what to do.

Does that sound like someone who's happy he's human?! Even Damon told him to remember all the times he wanted to be human and he was not here for it. I mean we already did the Stefan doesn't want to be human plot in S7 and he said out loud being human SUCKS! He wanted forever with Caroline, he promised her forever "I pledged my life to Caroline forever" 8x07 and when that got taken away he was miserable. He felt like a burden and it took the pep talk from Damon and killing Cade for him to be like it doesn't matter how many years I have left I just want to spend them with Caroline. Being turned into a human was his punishment, that was what he got for choosing to turn his humanity off and killing Enzo and like that's fine, he was a maniac working for Cade but that's what it was punishment!

I don't even understand what he means by Caroline didn't want to take the sure because it wasn't even an option? I mean the cure is probably the most annoying plot device this show ever did and they can't even follow their own mythology about it. And again, Caroline loved Stefan no matter what she still wanted to marry him as a human and it's not like they were the only human/vampire relationship I just...

Honestly Anon I think the fact that Stefan kept bleeding and being put in danger ALL THE TIME as a human showed even more how much the writers did not feel Stefan as human. Stefan always walked head-first into danger and it was like that aspect of him did not work as a human but the amount of times he was HEMORRHAGING BLOOD I truly could not. He was stabbed with a pole, shot, stabbed in the hand and beaten by a 4000 year old psychic. Which like you said resulted in a scratch on the forehead meanwhile he was being kicked where he had been shot and stabbed less that two days ago.

That article also makes it kind of obvious Kevin couldn't care less about the Salvatore school and Julie trying to do the spin-off which is why he especially did not care about that being Stefan's redemption. It's just amazing this guy started two shows left and then came back and expected everyone to want to do what was applicable to the plot when he left. Say what you want about Julie but she's the showrunner who is actually able to make seasons upon seasons of a show and KW keeps getting his shows cancelled after two seasons.

Still endlessly amazing too how Stefan had to die for killing Enzo who showed up in S5 but Damon was absolved for killing Tyler a character who’d been there since the pilot.

Whoever took that picture of Wescola

* heart eyes* in Paris that you posted ,I wish them all the happiness in the world.

Anyway, you know out of all parent-child relationships on the show,Caroline-Liz stands out for me so I always thought it would have been really beautiful if Caroline had worn something that belonged to her mom on her wedding day like a piece of jewellery or maybe her watch.Just something that would make her feel close to her mom especially she she was so sad she wouldn't be there.I'm not acquainted with American wedding traditions but I just found it really weird that she didn't wear absolutely anything connected to her family but the show had to shove Elena's necklace in there as her something borrowed.

Isn't it so cute! Bless that person.

Yeah I guess they felt like the toast was enough, usually at weddings when a parent has passed on they'll have a seat reserved for them at the ceremony and maybe a few words said during the toast. It would have been nice if Caroline wore something blue that belonged to her Mom. I agree they had such a special bond, especially seeing where it started in S1 to where it ended up by S6.

Do you think jp did the wedding as a salvage or do you think she would have done it even if they had not switched the death?

Nope I think everything that happened that season was supposed to happen except the finale death switch (in terms of the story arc the writers planned out). JP was super excited the night the proposal aired (the 8x02 one) and I think Paul even said in an interview Julie wasn’t cruel enough to bait the wedding all season for it not to happen. Plus Caroline had so much foreshadowing that she wanted to get married and have a wedding it kind of needed to happen just because of that. I think what she added to salvage the finale and SC was using the SE scene as bait for the “I will love her forever too” and the S symbol on the Salvatore school.
