It has been literal years but every time I see Martin’s tweets posted somewhere and his word is shared as truth while her post is not shared it sort of reiterates the fact that we trust men to speak about feminism more than we believe women who experience it.

Reading her account of how their boss treated her blows me away. Men are so emboldened that they will literally admit to illegal discrimination casually and face no consequences.

In all the years of seeing this post I’ve never seen a link to her side. Didn’t even know she’d written one.

Adding screenshots of her post. His whole post is there without needing a link. Hers should be, too.

Also, she posted this is 2017! It’s fucking 2020 and I’ve seen his side of this for years, but it took 3 years for her side to make its way to my dash…

I’ve reblogged his story at least twice; it’s time for Nicole’s.

I've been told you'd like to hear about my Grandmother...

My grandmother got married in 1962, to a young man in the military. For a wedding present, their parents bought them a house in a nice suburb. White picket fence, whole 9 yards. Not long after they moved in, the next door neighbor planted a mullberry tree on the side of his property, near my grandparent’s driveway. Nothing seemed amiss, but if you know Mullberry Trees, you know that sh*t is about to get real.

But Clarisse with a prosthetic

  • she lost it in a monster attack
  • when she first woke up, she was really disoriented and fell out of her bed in the infirmary.
  • it took Will twenty minutes to calm her down enough to explain that she lost her leg and that they had to amputate it
  • two weeks recovery in the infirmary, strictly bed rest
  • it was pure torture
  • Clarisse kept trying to get out of bed, to the point where Will threatened to handcuff her if she didn’t stop
  • every morning after the third day, she woke up to Chris holding her hand
  • once she was finally allowed to move around, she started with a wheelchair.
  • this, was also a lesser form a torture
  • it didn’t take her long to build up the arm strength to wheel herself around, but she had never realized how many stairs camp actually had
  • it also didn’t take her long to realize that it was next to impossible to maneuver a sword in a wheelchair
  • she was limited to spears and not much else
  • it took three weeks of full wheelchair mobility before she finally sucked up her pride and talked to Will about her options other that this
  • he sends her to cabin nine
  • Leo and Nyssa make her a prosthetic leg, made more for speed than strength, but still durable
  • needless to say, it still takes some getting used too, after all, she’s gotten used to there not being any weight at all from the mid-thigh down since two months ago
  • she uses crutches for the first week before saying ‘fuck it, I can do this’
  • Chris still helps her around more than she’ll ever admit
  • learning to walk to some leaning on tables and Chris and walls and solid things in general
  • she felt like a toddler sometimes, but Will said that was normal, since she was having to learn how to walk again, in a whole new way
  • Chris would sometimes (when they were alone, of course.) take her hands and hold them up high, letting her use him for support as she took steps on her own, so she could focus more on building the muscles than her balance
  • that first morning when she was able to get out of bed and walk around, do her morning routine, and get dressed without help from anyone or anything, the entire cabin cheered for her
  • she snapped at them to shut up, but she smiled anyway
  • the first time that Clarisse ran without tripping up in the first few steps, Chris is beaming
  • He was still grinning ear to ear when Clarisse caught up with him and tackled him to the ground
  • learning to fight was a whole different process
  • she fell more often than she would care to admit, and refused anyones help in getting back up
  • ‘I can fucking do this on my own dammit’
  • Clarisse could slash dummies up, but in real spars she still fell to her knees sometimes when she dodged
  • even when she trained enough to be able to spar and fight, she was still not on par with what she was before
  • Clarisse still favors her left leg as she moves, and it’s obvious if you look
  • no one says a word, though

lowkey I feel like a lot of people my age younger think selfcare is like “treat yourself to new outfit” or “put on a facemask” or “have an extra scoop of ice cream” but i cannot stress enough this enough sometimes selfcare is “brushing your teeth” and “cleaning your room” and “eating some fruit” or “going for a walk”

It’s not just about the frivolous ‘treat-yourself’ stuff. most of the time it’s about actually taking care of your body’s basic needs

You don’t want to be rich. You want to live freely.

That’s it

that’s it, man.

The idea of being super-rich actually scares me. I don’t want to be so empty inside that I spend my money on $30,000 ugly handbags and giant boats and shit. I just want to pay my bills without panic and support lots of charities.

And maybe go some places

The way people have started acting like Top means man and Bottom means woman is uhhh how you say Disgusting

It’s almost worse than asking gay couples who the man and who the woman is like y’all have taken completely neutral gay sexual positions and turned them into personality indicators like this is fucking uke and seme culture rebranded and it’s gross and heteronormative
