one of these days im going to get my thoughts in order about how various forms of media have sensationalized/eternalized white male serial killers and how their crimes get to inspire endless documentaries, entire works of fiction and subcultures while their victims remain nameless and forgotten (in comparison) by the general public. i know it’s the white supremacy but there’s like something especially heinous about this phenomenon as a whole when you see the sheer amount of media (both fiction and non-fiction) revolved around painting these men in an empathetic/sympathetic light or trying to paint these serial killers as cruel masterminds instead of recognizing how many of these men only got away with their crimes because of police incompetence, racism and sexism. and i would be less bothered by this kind of media if we didn’t already live in a world where white mass murders weren’t already glorified both in history and the present. you see such a huge overlap in communities interested in true crime, fictional serial killers and people who have legitimate fetishes for serial killers that it’s literally insane to believe that media revolved around white male murders doesn’t affect reality or isn’t actively doing harm by being created at the rate that it is. like at its most benign it’s flagrant white supremacist propaganda

Folks with this whole "you're old once you hit 25" mentality are just buying into a repackaged "you need to have your life figured out by 18 and if you're not successful by 22 you're a failure" load of shit. Like....bruh, life doesn't end at 25. Idk how to tell you that the time limit you're silently imposing on yourself and your peers is largely responsible for your dissatisfaction with your life. Stop living your life like happiness has an expiration date. It doesn't.
