Illustration for Heirloom Rustic Ale’s Relict beer. Each label I illustrated features flora, fauna, and folklore native to Oklahoma for the Tulsa-based brewery. Relict features a jackalope jumping over a reliquary, barley, and laurels.
Sascha Schneider (German, 1870-1927), Judas Iscariot
…within a fantastical, unreal setting, the arch-traitor Judas - “chained” by blood-red brambles that encircle his naked body with its powerful, antique-style physique - is walking with his head bowed across 30 pieces of silver which, glowing hot, scorch his feet. Appearing out of nothingness before him is a vision of the Cross, whose stem diaphanously passes in front of Judas’s outstretched leg. Standing sentinel like an idol in the background is the Angel of Justice, armed with a sword.

THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY (1981)
Currently on view at Thinkspace Projects in Culver City, California is artist David Rice’s exceptional new solo exhibition, “Hanging Valley.”
From Thinkspace, “Inspired by the potential of unlikely pairings, Rice pushes the limits and boundaries of the physical world through his imagery, accessing a lawless surreal in which patterns merge with physical spaces, human and natural worlds intermingle, and the scale of site and place slide.”
“Hanging Valley” is on view until June 23rd, 2018 and should absolutely be sought out if you are in the area.
