Inspired by recent interest in this blog, and for ppl newly landing on it, I made this pinned post as a welcome, a warning, and some tags I would recommend that are specific to my blog for my favorite stuff. Here's why it's called i-want-my-IWTV.

🤘 A welcome: I'm Burnadette (21+) and this blog is an unofficial Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles appreciation blog started in July 2013, but it's not an authoritative resource, I'm just collecting fanworks and other dash goodies based on my own rubric, sprinkling catnip out to the fandom, and answering asks for ppl who are curious about my opinions on things. I encourage positivity and optimism! ✨

⚠️ A warning: You may encounter things you dislike on this blog, such as ship art of ships you dislike, discussions about dark fiction, problematic characters, and other such topics. My free time for fandom is limited and I do this for free for my own entertainment, so I don't engage in bad faith discussion, and I'm generally picky about engaging* in all discussion posts or personal posts.

  • You may have noticed that I don't post/reblog much about it if I can help it: While I do not like the current IWTV AMC 2022 adaptation, I can talk about it, and I do appreciate that it's brought fresh blood 🩸 into the fandom, a lot of talented fanart and writing! And yes, ppl can enjoy IWTV '22 and other adaptations and canon and absolutely whatever 🤝, these things are not mutually exclusive 😎 (I tag it #iwtv 2022 and #iwtv amc if ppl need to block those tags.) With that said, I think there are some fabulous ppl who can embrace it all, like @xxhellonursexx! There are role models like Nurse, able to venn diagram the VC content with a sense of humor and respect.

So I welcome new fans, and encourage them to ask questions and engage with ppl like me, there is limitless room for everyone.

ANYWAY.

hey vampire pervs 💕 i'm thinking about #vckinkweek early, and it's looking like things might get expanded out and turned into kink month! which would look like each week having a different set of prompts to choose from ala #mermay.

but i'm wondering how to pick the prompts, so i need some input: would you be more inclined to participate if the prompts were specific kinks only, or if they were a mix of specific kinks and general kink related terms? for example, if we had Bondage Week we could have either:

kink only : shibari, predicament bondage, sensory deprivation, suspension

mix: predicament bondage, blindfolds, leather, shibari

I always thought it was really special that VC fandom had such amazing artists and I wondered how much was because we all read anne rice too young and got a free bonus classical art education 🥹

Please show your favs some appreciation!! The toxicity in this fandom drives creators away and it’s honestly so fucking depressing, like what the fuck are we doing here. It’s hard enough without all the bullying, can we be nice to each other ?

Welcome to MerMay - Vampire Chronicles edition! Vampire lovers, please join us in celebrating another category of mythological creatures and monsters: mermaids, sirens, rusalkas, selkies, and so on, combined with the VC characters we know and love all month long! 🫧🐠

Create fic, art, playlists, moodboards, photo manipulations, and anything else you can think of that relates to the theme of bodies of water and their inhabitants! 💙

Base it on the characters of the books, the movie, the show, the musical, or even that other movie! Genderswapped and trans versions welcome! Whatever ships, pairings, genres, tropes, and ratings you feel like doing! 🐙

2. Tag your posts #vamptember so that we can reblog! If your post isn't showing in the tag please don't hesitate to send us the link in our ask box! Delayed submissions are always welcome!

3. AO3 collection for fic will go live sometime during the last week of April. There will be another post announcing it then with instructions on how to add your works!

I want to say Angelheaded but can't in good faith because it's not finished yet. Although my partner--who I met in my last fandom--would say that's 100% indicative of my writing style, as the most popular fic of mine from my last fandom (which I began writing in 2014) remains unfinished. Which she'll forever give me shit for, until I finally post that final chapter.

Angelheaded is a good start because it an AU which (looking at my list of current WIPs) seems to somehow have become my thing in this fandom? I only wrote one AU for my last fandom so mark me confused as to why it's suddenly become my 'thing', but here we are hahaha

But as for something that you know, complete, I'd probably say the first fic I ever wrote for this fandom--Seven Suppers!

It does what I think a lot of my best fics do, which is filling in the gaps of canon, expounding on what characters were potentially thinking and feeling, includes a lot of emotional tension, and is needlessly wordy like most the stuff I write lmao.
