Arizona with Catherine’s

Since going to visiting Colorado last summer, I’ve been in love with the mountains. So, when Catherine’s invited me to go frolicking in Arizona I was SO in!

I met up with the rest of the girls, Nicole from Curves on a Budget & Alissa from Stylish Curves where we were staying, the luxurious Four Season!

This desert oasis is the type of place you never have to leave - so on our first day we explored the grounds and enjoyed the gorgeous pool!

For this relaxed day, I threw on the Newport Dress by Catherine’s with these super comfy and simple slide on sandals.

When it came time to hit the pool, I fell in LOVE with this swimdress. Usually a bit frumpy in my opinion, this version completely changed my mind!

Paired with a hooded (my favorite) coverup, I’ve found my new go to for splish-splashing around.

The next day, we took off to explore breathtaking Sedona, Arizona! The drive there was stunning and our driver kept us laughing and informed the whole way, screeching to a halt whenever we spotted a photo worthy spot like this:

Off the shoulder shirts have been a favorite of mine lately, plus they’re the perfect item to add to your closet for spring. Since black is my favorite color this whole outfit spoke to me, from the top to the gauchos to the shoes!

Next up, was lunch!

My favorite memories from this trip, are the moments I spent chatting with the girls gathered around the table, or cruising through AZ.

For our last stop, we headed for the Red Rocks in Sedona and OH MY GOD was it stunning.

The super women we are, we did an outfit change and trekked up a bluff in some heels to one of the Vortexes we’d heard about!

This last outfit, made me feel SO Marilyn! The whimsical Black Label Sunrise Vista Dress from Catherine’s flows beautifully and made for some epic pictures:

Oh, and peep those shoes?! They’re amazing you need them!

I left this trip feeling refreshed and inspired. Big thanks to Catherine’s, Nicole & Alissa for that!!!

So Long 2016...

This year has been an eventful one to say the least, personally and globally. I blogged, worked my 9-5, traveled, went through a breakup, fell in love, walked in my first fashion show, was heartbroken by politics, celebrated the birth of my nephew, was in a magazine and embraced the love of some amazing friends. As I sat here and read all my friends 2016 recaps, I started to evaluate my last 365 days and decided, for the first time, to hop on this bandwagon. Because sometimes you have to look back and appreciate all the goodness that has come to you. In 2017, if shit hits the fan, I’ll look back at this and remember, that despite it all, life is good and I have much to be grateful for. Since my blog is something I cherish dearly, I want to take a moment to appreciate a few special blog moments from 2016 that were made possible in large by you guys! Here goes:

Adventures with Catherines

This past year, I was so fortunate to go on two adventures with Catherines. First up was Jamaica, and OMG was it the trip of a lifetime. I don’t know if I’ll ever get to vacation this way again, from our private house/mansion, to yoga and massages to a trip to a waterfall, this was a dream come true.

Best part?! THE PEOPLE! I’m so so so thankful for the people I’ve gotten to know and love from blogging. When I took off for Montego Bay with Maddy from Plus Model Magazine, Chante of Everything Curvy and Chic, Ro from Beauti Curve, Kellie from And I Get Dressed, Kate from the Catherines’ team and Lydia and Christina, our INCREDIBLE photographers, I knew I liked these people but I didn’t know how much I LOVED them. Forever grateful for these experiences.

The next adventure I joined Catherines for was right here in NYC. And yet again, they made my dreams come true. They gathered up some of my closest friends, Meg from Little Lime Dress, Kelly from Kelly Augustine and Ty from Gorgeous In Grey and fulfilled a lifelong desire of mine to ride in a helicopter - uhhhh so awesome!

Christian Siriano for Lane Bryant

THIS, thissss, this was a huge milestone for me in life. Little girl daydreams becoming real life. Growing up, I always dreamed of being a model and this year, I got to walk in the Christian Siriano X Lane Bryant fashion show at the UN building. The  setting was amazing and the company was incredible.

Buzzfeed

If you’re like me, you cruised through college and into the “real world” (as they call it) reading Buzzfeed articles for fun and eventually even getting your news from the millennial website mecca. So when I got the email that they wanted me to participate in an upcoming feature, I was stoked. What I loved even more was the post topic, 1 dress styled multiple ways. Here’s how I sported my LBD:

Glamour Magazine

When Glamour launch it’s special edition issue, Chic At Any Size, I was ecstatic to be included. From reading the magazine myself, to being on the pages, my mom and I couldn’t have been more pumped. Haha!

To top it all off Glamour and Lane Bryant hosted a dinner to celebrate and created custom art pieces as our place settings. All the touches we so sweetly thought out as some of my favorite blogger babes, Glamour staff and Lane Bryant execs gathered together to celebrate.

Gwynnie Bee Collaborations

Lastly, but not least by any means, this year I partnered with Gwynnie Bee as their November Influencer as well as walked in their collaboration runway show with Rachel Antonoff.

My second fashion show, was no less special from the first. The whimsical and fun theme had our spirits high, as the all-blogger cast trotted down the runway. The show was during CurvyCon so all of our blogger pals from far and near were there, making it even more special!

After such an amazing experience with the GB team, when the opportunity rolled around to collaborate again, as the November Influencer, I jumped at the opportunity! I’ve been wanting to do more video, so I was overjoyed to work with the team to create a video on how to style one piece three different ways. Check it out at: http://bit.ly/2iAiAOk

Well, that’s a wrap. Let’s see what 2017 has to bring!

What I Wore: Into the Light

Whenever the temps start to drop, I pull out my trusty tights! This year I’ve found my most favorite pair yet, the Just My Size by Hanes Women's Blackout Tights. They are soft-touch finish and are the softest tights I’ve ever worn! Best part, they’re long enough for tall gals like me.

From mandatory tights with my high school uniform, to now, I’ve tried a wide variety and these are some of my favorites!

What I Wore: Vintage Cape

The last two weeks i’ve been on vacation in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Prague and Berlin. It was the sweetest most amazing time. In Berlin we strolled the streets and happened upon a vintage store that we decided to bop into. And lo and behold there was a treasure waiting for me: this cape! It is the perfect color and nice thick wool with pockets on the inside that I absolutely love. Since it became mine, it’s been on or near my body.

I paired this new piece with one of my favorite tops from J. Jill. If you’re tall like me, check out their tunics which are nice and long! Get the shirt here.

What I Wore: Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

When you’re 6′3 and a size 13 shoe, shopping can be difficult. But Long Tall Sally always has me covered, and they are bringing it this season when it comes to boots! For this post, I’m highlight my three favorites:

These shoes are everything I was looking for. Think chic yet outdoorsy! My favorite part? The leather look details.

One touch of these boots and I fell in love - the leather is sooo soft! These babies are so elegant and sleek the way they hug the ankles.

When it came to these traditional combat boots, I opted for the updated oxblood version and I couldn’t be happier. For a gal who loves all black everything ensembles, these are the perfect partner.

Lastly, I couldn’t wrap this post up without mentioning this amazing sweater! The best part for a tall gal like me is the nice long sleeves that I don’t have to scrunch up to make work - YES Long Tall Sally!!
