The New Tumblr Update (Jan 28) and Logging Out

The latest Tumblr update appears to have broken XKit Mobile's "is account logged in" function, causing the application to sign you out as soon as you log in, if you received the update on your account.

Unfortunately, none of my test accounts received the update yet, so I have no way of knowing what might be causing it. As soon as I receive the update, I'll be providing a fix as soon as possible.

I'm terribly sorry about this, and thank you for your patience and support.

Tumblr Changes and XKit Mobile

A recent Tumblr change broke most of XKit Mobile, including the Inbox, Tag browsing and searching, and reblogging/liking posts.

I've isolated and fixed the problem, and submitted the new version of the application to Apple. Unfortunately, due to Apple's review process, it can take up to 6-7 days for the update to get reviewed and reach your phone.

I'm terribly, terribly sorry about this. I'll be contacting Apple to see if I can get an expedited review, if possible.

Please accept my apologies.

(US Users) XKit Mobile Crashing on Login?

To illustrate the importance net neutrality, Tumblr decided to replace all images on dashboard with a load “spinning wheel”. This, however completely throws XKit Mobile off, causing it to crash upon login. Since this effect is only visible to United States users, I only have screenshots of it and can’t do anything to fix it remotely.

Fortunately, the fix is easy:

Login using a computer (or Safari on your phone, you’ll have to switch to “Desktop View”) and tap on the “Make it stop” button on the top of the page. This will remove the spinning wheels on your account, and XKit Mobile will start working again.

I’m terribly sorry about this.

XKit Mobile 1.0.4 now available.

This version brings Blog Settings (view your theme and change your avatar - theme editing coming soon) and Semi-Offline Mode (continue reading when connection drops) as well as user interface and speed improvements and lots of bug fixes. (View all changes)

Depending on your location, it might take ~50-60 minutes for the update to appear on the App Store.

I would like to apologize for the slow updates, this version was supposed to come out ~13 days ago, but a crucial bug prevented me from releasing it. As I've said before, this is mostly a bug fix/speed improvement release, but I'm working on bringing new features with version 1.0.5.

Thank you so much for your patience and support.

Upcoming version: 1.0.4

I apologize for the slow updates, the Apple approval process can take up to 8 days but I've submitted version 1.0.4 and waiting approval right now.

Version 1.0.4 is mainly a speed improvement and bug fixes release, but it also has a few new features such as being able to preview your mobile theme and changing your avatar, "offline mode" which allows you to read posts already loaded and user interface improvements. It should also be up to 50% faster, when refreshing/loading pages, especially on older devices.

It will be available by the end of this week, hopefully.

If you experience problems, please let me know by sending an ask. Although I can't reply to most asks anymore due to lack of time, I still read them all and try my best to fix the problems as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Crashing on Login?

I'm aware on an issue that causes the application to crash upon logging in, which always happens if you were already logged in, but was logged out for a reason (password change, cookie rejected by Tumblr servers, etc.)

Unfortunately, based on asks/bug reports I've received vs. sale numbers, it seems like it affects less than 0.5-1% of the users, making this bug a very hard one to catch. (And iTunes Connect, used to manage apps in App Store, is not showing any crash reports for me, making this even harder.)

If you are experiencing this problem, uninstalling and then reinstalling XKit will fix it. I've also heard that changing your password on desktop also fixes the problem, but I don't think it works 100%.

I'm terribly, terribly sorry about this. If you can provide information about this (ie: does the crash happen after or before the "spinning wheel" shows up, any changes you've done to your account/app settings before this started happening, etc.) it would really help me.

Thank you so much and once again, please accept my apologies.

XKit Update, July 16

I would like to apologize for the lack of updates again.

I’ve been working on version 1.0.3 of XKit Mobile, which should bring a much better experience for it’s users, with Hold-To-Reblog, Shorten Posts, revamped user interface (which should be less glitchy and feel less, well, rigid) and much faster GIF and page loading (up to 4-5x faster for GIF loading, and up to 25% faster for page loading) and lots and lots of small improvements and bug fixes. (iPad version is coming in 1.0.4, as it’s proving to be a little more difficult than I’ve predicted, my apologizes for that.)

After it’s released, I’ll be focusing once again on the desktop version, fixing the known bugs and bringing back Safari support. I am also experimenting with new features.

I also apologize for delays on answering your asks. The things is, in the last 3-4 months, the amount of asks I receive jumped from 15-20/day to more than 100/day (especially after Tumblr changes something), which is the reason why I can’t respond to asks like I’ve used to. I’m considering getting a few close friends to help me with the asks.

And as always, thank you so much for your support and patience.

XKit Mobile 1.0.2 is now available.

Once again, I apologize for the bugs in the initial version, and I hope that this version will fix at least the most common problems reported to me.

  • Smart Safe Dash: Only block photos from known NSFW/Adult blogs, so you don't have to tap on every single photo. As this requires the blog to be flagged as such, for maximum genitalia protection, please turn it off.
  • Improved Image Loading: Images should now load much faster than on version 1.0.1.
  • Lots of bug fixes and other small improvements.

I'm already working on version 1.0.3, and if everything goes as planned, it will feature Shorten Posts, Markdown support, blog settings (change avatar, turn the asks off/on) and more user interface improvements, and it will be released in less than 2 weeks.

If you are experiencing any problems, please let me know, and I will do my very best to help you. Thank you so much for your support and patience.
