According to Disney+ DSMOM happens before the Hawkeye series. NWH and Hawkeye happen at basically the same time (December), which means NWH happens after DSMOM. Am I right on this??? Am I the only one who knows this or does everyone already know and I'm just now realizing-

The main NWH action with Dr Strange happens in early November (MJ is told to take down Halloween decorations), not December

Hawkeye happens the week of Christmas

The last scene at the coffee shop is a few weeks later (per Jameson) and happens in early or mid December, and before the final swing (Peter had the cup in his apartment) which is before the end of Hawkeye as the tree is still up.

DSMOM apparently happens in between but IMO makes more sense to be set in the following springtime.

Genuinely wondering if people think a main character is going to die in season 5 and who they think it might be? Obviously I don’t want any of them to go, but I truly think they’ve put everyone through way too much to kill them now… none of the options make much “sense” anymore narratively, especially because it’s not like they’ll be a lot of time for grieving?

Like, killing Steve doesn’t make sense right after killing Eddie (who in some ways was a stand in so that Steve didn’t have to die in s4); it would be too much on Dustin. Killing Hopper doesn’t make sense after he already fake-died and came back (and by extension, since so much of his arc is intertwined with Joyce’s, not to mention their 3 kids, killing her would be very cruel). Killing Max after keeping her alive in a coma…I don’t really see it, what would be the point? Killing Nancy or Jonathan (& again, Steve) would at least partially come off as a cheap way of resolving this love triangle they’ve dredged up again. Especially considering a main character has never actually died before, and amidst other reasons, killing Robin feels inherently icky, a la bury-your-gays trope. Killing Lucas or Erica, again amongst several other reasons, would be gross as they are the only two main black characters on the show. And killing El and/or Will would be such an incredibly dark ending (too dark for the show, in my opinion, as I think it’s not meant to be a tragedy).

…who does that leave?

I personally don’t think they are going to kill off any main character. You raise excellent points here, but I’d like to add that I think the series will end like the 80s homage it is: with a happy ending that is, at most, bittersweet (worst case scenario).

Agreed on all of this. If it was that kind of show we’d have, at a minimum, actually lost Hopper and probably gotten a ‘main’ death in S4.2 as well.

That being said, the ST / The Duffers are clearly big into near misses (Max) and fake-outs (Hopper), and I’d be willing to be we get at least one of those in S5 and possibly multiple people or events that are like that.

And given their fascination with Wheeler-centric love triangles, I could see that being used to show true feelings without the cheap resolution to the triangle that an actual death would have... perhaps  Nancy completely ignoring Steve if he and Jonathan are both in mortal peril or the team thought they both died... or, writers forbid, the other way around.

✨ Official Announcement! ✨

You love them, we love them, let’s celebrate!

When is it? October 30th - November 5th, 2022

What is it? This week long event is designed to challenge and inspire everyone in the Jancy fandom to create related works. Any type of fanwork (i.e. fanfic, fanart, fansongs, gif sets, playlists, etc.) is welcomed as long as it is Jancy centric and relates back to one of the daily themes.

Whats a theme? During the event, each day will focus on a different topic/trope to inspire various fanworks. These topics become one of the week’s seven themes.

What are the themes? To decide the event’s themes, we are asking you, the fandom, to vote for their top 10 favorites. The voting period will last roughly a week from August 26th - September 2nd.

Voting will help the mods decide the official seven themes for Jancy Week 2022 which will be announced September 7th, 2022.

How much time will I have to create my fanworks? We have scheduled Jancy Week 2022 so that the fans will have approximately 2 months to work on their projects.

Are you doing any giveaways? Yes! This year we are doing our first giveaway. One lucky fan will win* a (gently used) Season One Nancy Funko Pop. To enter the lottery, all you have to do is:

1. Follow @jancyweek2022 2. Reblog the theme announcement post with the tag #giveaway from September 1st until November 5th 2022 @ midnight (UTC)!

Each reblog counts as a chance to win, so the more reblogs the better!

*Note: winning will require providing a physical mailing address to share-the-damn-bed.

So what is the schedule? The schedule of events are as follows:

  • Theme Voting: August 26 - September 2nd
  • Daily Themes Announcement: September 7th
  • Event: October 30th - November 5th 2022

More information will follow but if you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to send us an ask (anons are enabled!). We hope you are as excited as we are about this event and please, spread the word and be sure to vote!

Still find it incredibly weird how we’re currently living in peak weed culture, vaping, smoking, to the point where more people are doing it legally or at least know someone is doing it legally (or illegally depending) and yet somehow the ST fandom has demonized Jonathan for doing it 2 times before not smoking again for the remainder of the series. (Versus Argyle who actually gets high the whole season…)

Like how can you hate a fictional character so much you can disconnect your own brain from your potentially very real moral views of marijuana? Which most states and people want legal, to decriminalize it, and let it become a venue for tax income…like what? Like thanks for regressing a whole fandom 30+ years Duffers on this very common thing just ‘cause they thought a character was “boring” for a shitty season of Netflix television.

I just hate these stoner Jonathan takes so much not even just for his character reasons but this weird regression of views on a substance that has definitely grown in popularity and used now more than ever as it has become more accessible, and most people really don’t give a fuck anymore.

And people have such a huge misunderstanding of WHY Jonathan started using, which frankly is why a lot of people use, it’s a coping mechanism. Like he literally says it when talking to Will that it was his way of trying to avoid his own problems (which he has a lot of), it’s not even an uncommon reason! Hell, some people just smoke for fun, let alone to cope with trauma or other mental, emotional, or even physical reasons.

It’s just weird, too many weird puritan takes from people who watch a show about freaks and geeks and outcasts. Go figure.

Oh, the fandom as a whole doesn’t mind weed at all:

Steve explicitly admitted to smoking in S3 while on truth serum
Argyle is a walking meme everyone seems to like
Eddie doesn’t just partake but is a dealer, and his ONLY interaction with Chrissy is a drug deal where she asks for something harder... and he has it at home...

They just don’t like Jonathan. Everything they say about him is an excuse to explain why after the fact, but it’s not an actual reason.

So I’ve been thinking a lot about something @actinganimagus said a while ago about Remus’ Scars not being canon . I had actually completely forgotten they weren’t until then and I find it really strange that they aren’t actually canon from the books.

We know that it is canon that Remus used to bite and scratch himself on a full moon when he was alone. We also know from Bill Weasley’s incident that you can not heal werewolf bites and scratches even if they are created when that werewolf wasn’t transformed- so they scar. So surely Remus should be covered in scars if he spent at least 10 years of his childhood biting himself every month? And then at least another 13 years as an adult? Surely he should return from the shack every month with visible signs that he’s been ripping himself to shreds?  Remus’ appearance is always described as tired, worn and sick, but not once is there any reference to a scar or bite - even when Harry knows that Remus is werewolf and would know what these are.  Begs the question, do werewolves in the Wizarding World have some kind of super healing power in regards to the bites they themselves make? Once you’re  a werewolf and the disease is in your blood, do these marks of ‘dark magic’ cease to be ‘dark’ and instead just become normal for your body? OR has Remus just got a super great concealer?

Is this probably just an oversight by J.K? More than likely. Am I going to stop thinking about it? Probably not.

How would it be an “oversight by J.K”? The scars weren’t even a feature until the films came out, because the audience needed a visual clue to something being off about him, so they added scars. In the books it’s hinted to his body being ripped up, but even as a werewolf the thought of a werewolf slicing up it’s own face sounded really dumb to me, so I always thought he got the scars in the war (see Son of the Moon) but in the books, since Harry doesn’t mention them, I always assumed they faded since the first war.

Hope you guys don’t mind me jumping in here with something I have thought about since reading this earlier...

Going back through HBP you have Remus’s conversation about Fenrir at Christmas (”It was Greyback who bit me”), the initial description of Fenrir in the tower (Greyback grinned, showing pointed teeth. Blood trickled down his chin), and the discussion about Bill at the end (”there is no cure for werewolf bites”) in by Pomfrey who after eight years of Remus is probably a leading expert on the matter.

All three key points are focused on biting, teeth, the mouth, etc...

Between the wording JKR uses, how normal wolves hunt, and the various comparisons in pop culture between werewolves and vampires, I think it’s reasonable to conclude, at least as a headcanon, that it is bites (the teeth and/or saliva) that are cursed / disease carrying. Not to say getting scratched would be pleasant by any means, but it’s likely not nearly as damaging as a bite especially in terms of magic-resistant scarring.

And I certainly would agree that, unless werewolves don’t look anything like men or wolves, it is highly unlikely that Moony ever bit his own face to give the classic facial scarring so often used for Remus.

If Remus does bare obvious and undeniable scars, they are likely on his limbs (where most mammals will instinctively bite at to get free from a trap, perhaps in this case even the relatively metaphorical trap of not giving into his worst nature, as well as where other wolves would likely bite during his missions) safely hidden under the long-sleeved shirts and trousers, or wizarding robes, that being worn by a British half-blood in his 30′s would be perfectly unremarkable. Given how many people walk around the Ministry with the Dark Mark branded on the forearm I doubt wearing long sleeves in public is an issue at all, and almost certainly would not be something Harry would comment on from his POV used in the books.

But the flip side of this, from a shipping, fanfic, and RP perspective is that if/when someone does see Remus without a shirt on... such as a young pink haired Auror or an escaped convict who hasn’t seen him in a dozen years... there could well be all sorts of scars, old and new, to see and touch. And this is of course leads to obvious ‘intimacy in more ways than one’ and ‘scars you can see versus those you can’t see’ and all that sort of thing.

So that’s just what’s been running through my head all afternoon after reading this... might be completely off base and missed something obvious about scratching scars but figured I’d get it out there.

Harry Naming His Children

I just can’t stop thinking about James and Sirius and Remus in the afterlife, watching over Harry. And when he has his first child, James and Sirius are ecstatic that Harry chooses to name him after them. And Remus smiles benevolently and doesn’t say anything of course, but maybe feels just a tad left out. Sirius can tell and he pats him on the shoulder, saying, “Next time! You’ll see!”  And then next time arrives and what does Harry choose? Albus Severus. And Remus understands, and he’s really not upset. But Sirius is. Sirius just cannot believe that Harry would choose to name his son after Snivellus, the man who had made his godson’s and his own life miserable (so what if he loved Lily), before he honored Remus. Remus, who had been a mentor and friend to Harry. Remus, who had named Harry godfather of his own child. Remus, who was one of the best men Sirius had ever known despite having a childhood that was probably much shittier than Snape’s. Remus, who deserved to be honored by Harry every bit as much as Sirius did, and certainly a thousand times more than Snape.

And for the first time in his life, Sirius is truly disappointed in his godson. And he can’t even let Harry know. And he just has to live with this awful feeling for years and years, and nothing Remus says can make it any better.

Until one day Sirius notices something. He notices how there are always four kids at the Potter house. He’d always thought it was just Harry being nice because Andromeda was getting pretty old by now, but once he starts paying attention, he notices how every time Harry talks about “his kids,” that includes Teddy Lupin. How Teddy is in all of the Potter family portraits. How James, Al, and Lily refer to Teddy as their older brother.  And one day Sirius is watching as Teddy risks himself to save Albus from falling off his broom, and then proceeds to fuss over Al without once worrying about himself. And Harry runs over in a panic, and goes immediately to Teddy, who took most of the damage, checks that he’s basically alright, looks at him with tears in his eyes, and says “Teddy Remus Lupin, thank you. Thank you for saving Al. You are so much like your father.” And then he hugs him tightly and doesn’t let go for the longest time . And Sirius’s anger evaporates just like that, and he looks over and sees that Remus has been watching too and now they are both silently crying as they watch Harry, their Harry, take care of two of his sons. And it’s suddenly so obvious why Harry didn’t name his youngest son after Remus: because that was already the name of his oldest.
